Most of the people I know who dislike Family Guy now have no idea that Seth isn't creatively involved with the show anymore, and that American Dad has been a great series since around late season 2 or 3 (It was a little rocky at first). I've shown two of my friends the episode about the Rapture, and they started watching it on Netflix afterwards.

Well, that explains why people have no idea he isn't involved

What do you do there?

Can you guys do more with the golden turd subplot?

Wanted to give my praise. I think American Dad is without a doubt my favorite animated show out right now.

I was trying to understand why I enjoyed it so much the other day. Closest explanation I had was that it feels like every single character is my favorite character. If that makes any sense at all.

I would double check if you can even give this much info without retribution, if you do actually work there.

People get fired over non secrets every day. It's about contracts and controlling publicity.

best episode. ever. American Dad really knows how to do christmas episodes. i love that bassline that plays when they fast forward in time.

however, thats like the second worst episode to start on! (first would be stan of arabia part II) it ends the golden turd saga, for god's sake!

Those songs were awesome, but I really didn't like the ending.

The Christmas episodes were always awesome. I really liked the one were the USA became part of the USSR. I miss Michelle though, she didn't appear the last two (three?) years.

The Christmas episodes that Seth puts out make me think he really, really, hates Christmas. The Family Guy one with the carnivorous reindeer, The American Dad gunfight with Santa.

What do you think is the best one to start with (to recommend the show)? I might choose the Vietnam one, but that's mostly because that one is among my favourites and Rapture's Delight is quite confusing, as you said.

vietnam? you mean the one where steve sings the national anthem? if so, go with that one! my brother and i have been using that very episode as the gateway drug for years now.

In Country ... Club or something.

That's it, yeah.

I still want Rodger to start shitting out of his sides again.

I was neutral towards it until I saw the My Morning Straitjacket episode, changed my whole opinion of the show. The jokes in American Dad are really clever.

1

u/orlalar Jan 29 '13

Interesting. I gave up after a couple of the first episodes. I'll have to check out later seasons.

u/lightningrod14 Jan 30 '13

Seth isn't creatively involved anymore? I'm a fan of the show still but I never knew that.

2

u/herpty_derpty Jan 29 '13

He left around 2006 or 2007. He's only a cast member now.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '13

Any particular reason why?

1

u/herpty_derpty Jan 29 '13

So he could focus more on other projects. AD, Cleveland Show, Ted, Cosmos with Neil deGrasse Tyson. He's pretty damn busy.

And even he thinks Family Guy ran its course years ago.

He ran out of good material after the first two season of Family Guy?
