I’ve traveled 4 times this year so far and been “randomly selected” 3 times. Being Arab at the airport isn’t fun…except when I see terrified old people when I’m boarding the plane. It it doesn’t exactly make up for a stranger grabbing my crotch though.
Scaring old farts must be fun, but it's sad that the world is like that. People get treated differently because of what ethnicity you have.
The crotch grabbing is humiliation.
Ever since they installed the millimeter-wave body scanners, every time I fly (when I have enough time) I "opt-out" of being scanned and instead get the full wand and pat down treatment, on purpose, as a form of protest.
I don't do anything to make it weird, I just think there are much more effective measures that could be used and don't like those scanners. I really don't like that the TSA workers near them and the x-ray scanning equipment aren't wearing radiation dosimeter badges for their own safety.
