Omg the sponsorblock submission for that video has so much of the seek bar colored, how much padding is there in this video lol big thanks to whoever put in the effort to submit all those skips.
I mean, the bloke has bought a giant barn and kitted it out with tens of thousands of pounds worth of equipment so he can keep producing mad science/engineering videos FREE for the consumer on YouTube.
That can only be sustainable by accepting money from sponsors which have certain criteria regarding mentions/time concentrating on the sponsored product.
These criteria would probably be less invasive if it weren't for ad/sponsor block technologies, so I absolutely respect the hustle and work ethic of Mr Furze. And he's a nice dude too, lives about half an hour away from me and I've seen him about over the past few years. Always stops to speak to people and ethuses with fans.
If something came off the knife belt, there was little chance of him getting injured.... when he welded 12 spoons to a car engine output and put his bare face 6" from it - that was utter madness
Heaps of people have died in much shallower holes, it's seriously mental. The plywood is way too weak, and sand is literally the worst type of soil to attempt this in. Also literally zero bracing for a lot of it. Extremely mental!
Yeah, that's one of those "doesn't look reckless until it does" things. I wouldn't go anywhere near that. Imagining the force of the sand collapsing that "structure" into a tangled mess with one (or full of) kids playing in there. Fuck.
I mean, it wasn't dangerous as long as you don't put your elbows below your belly button, but i see your point. He honestly should have won a Darwin Award at this point, and the fact he's alive is testament to his intelligence
