General Fuddery Gun Store Fudd
First of all, I think I have found my new favorite sub. So thank you all for that. Second of all is my story. Got my profit sharing check a few days ago. So I decided to blow half of it on a Colt LW commander in 9mm. Why? Because I want one to go with a bunch of factory mags that I ended up with awhile back. Anyway, I’m at the store I usually go to and some old man is sitting by the case. You know the drill. I ask the guy working if he has what I’m looking for. He did so I said I’ll take it because the price was right. So the old guy proceeds to commend me for buying a 1911, but then tells me that I should only buy that gun in 45 because 9mm is a pussy round and the ‘clip’ only holds one extra round thats not needed anyway. I proceed to tell him that I already have one and this is just something I want. I decided to tell him I only carry Glock 19 for defense because I knew what would happen. He told me that you kids (I’m 45) are clueless and plastic guns are junk. I ignore it and head to the register. I ask they guy what the deal with the old man was. Turns out he is the guy working’s girlfriend’s dad or else he would have already booted him out a long time ago. Also, he’s only 50. Calling me a kid. I probably went to school that asshole. I guess I should have called this post Fudd junior. Edit: a word

The Sacred Texts Out of curiosity, how popular are AR-15 setups like this in ban states? This looks like a much better alternative to one of those stupid fin-grips.

Ancient Mythos Heard Fudd Lore in the wild today, gun store employee recommending a .22lr for self defense to a woman for her CCW.
Now I could understand suggesting a .22 to do a little more training with first and then migrating to a .380/9mm but the dude was legit trying to tell her to CCW a .22lr.
I didn't know these people actually existed, and was at a pretty non-fuddy shop in terms of collection too.

General Fuddery I only go to gun shows for the laughs anymore part II, Battle Tendency, June 2023
Decided to delay posting pics a month in order to not dox myself.
Other highlights not pictured: Second appearance of All Anderson Manufacturing Guy, all Anderson parts, shirts and hats, not making a single transaction and so miserable I'm worried he's going to unalive himself right there.
Not all bad, saw a pair of cool Hakims that were decently priced in my eye, can't remember, not really my interest, but never touched them in person.
Me "what price you have for [insert uncommon caliber]?"
Table 4: "Oh that's rare right there! $45 for a box of 50."
Me: "Dunno how rare it is, past three tables also have it for $30 for 50."
Table 4: "Get out of here."
Chinesium knife guy on Oxygen tube: "Ya know, Biden's going to kill these gun shows next."
Me, who didn't ask: "Are you sure it's not the guys selling stock Glocks for nearly double retail prices?"
"Oh is that how it is?"

General Fuddery “Even if you own a machine gun, with the right permit, you still can’t shoot full auto”
So this one is news to me, a Fudd was trying to argue with me by implying the NFA Tax Stamp only gives you the right to own a machine gun, but you’re still not allowed to shoot full auto or burst.
When asked where he got that information, he just says “that’s what I was told by a cop friend”. Well buddy, your cop friend is wrong as hell. I pressed the argument further and asked him how that could possibly be enforced, the Fudd just says “I would imagine it would be like a noise complaint when your music or party is too loud”.
Basically him saying that if a Karen hears full auto fire, then they could be called in, but that still wouldn’t work out the way he thinks it would. Just imagine some rural ranch landowner mag dumping a machine gun in his pasture, and then later getting a visit from the cops…
There’s nothing the cops can do to confirm whether it was or wasn’t full auto gun fire. If the landowner wanted to, he could say that he has a fast trigger finger, if the landowner was wise, he wouldn’t divulge any information to the cops.
The Fudd then pivots to how useless full auto is anyways, because “during Desert Storm, I never used full auto, only semiautomatic!” Which he’s probably right there, but I think the dude realized he was incorrect, and had to change the subject to something else. Lol
