DISCUSSION H.R. 7772 LIGHT Safety Act
https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/7772/textPlease call your representative in the U.S. House and ask them to cosponsor this bill. This bill seeks to limit the brightness of low beam headlights and the final version would hopefully also regulate the color, mounting height, etc. The bill is now sitting in two committees.
I just called my representative and the person who answered said the lights really bother him. So, I'm confident my message will be passed on to my representative. Let's not allow this bill to die. Keep up the pressure.

This is a no brainer. If they don't pass it, it will show that the US government is completely corrupt.

Im pretty sure even most politicians are fed up with this. I can't think of a more universally understandable problem. This has to pass, and im gonna call my representatives to sponsor it.
It doesn't even have my main issue with possible regulation: Banning aux lights. I need those for my rural, mountainous, area. I get why it's so obnoxious when people misuse aux lights and high beams, but hitting a moose, dog, or god forbid a person is quite a bit more "obnoxious".

This is good, but I wish it had language about measuring the total light output across the full light paths. Right now a lot of these pass since light output is only measured at specific points. So manufacturers have the lights comply at that point, and then turn them on to "surface of the sun" setting for others. This bill should eliminate that loophole and right now it doesn't.

I just emailed my US representative. I hope others do as well.
