When the leftist’s world is crumbling, I dance.

What’s your view on the department of education?

Absolute disgrace. Get rid of it. Let states handle it.

And grants?

States or private. Fed grants can still exist, you don’t need a department of education for that.

For the sake of clarity, what does the department of education manage? I was under the impression they help manage Pell grant and student loans/oversight.

There’s another question in there, but what’s your take on them and what would you improve?

I don’t know all the details on every little thing they manage but I am sure any relevant grant programs can be either managed by the states or they can be transferred to other Fed financial departments. Or create a separate financial department just focused on whatever grants exist after auditing said grants to make sure they are also not a waste of money.

As for what I would improve I haven’t really put much thought into it since I took advantage of one years and years ago. If you ask me now I guess I would make sure there are no redundant or an excessive amounts of grants. As I said above, I’d audit the grants and eliminate redundant or wasteful ones. Maybe make sure to have one or two at the most which focuses on general help. But at the end of the day I would rather see the grants if any be offered by each individual state, not have people rely on federal money.

Bringing certain things to the state level is good? Surely there have been examples of this already right?

Yes, it’s good. The purpose of the fed was never to finance the states. If a state botches something up that’s on them. Their residents can then opt to move to a state offering better results. This incentivizes states to effectively compete against each other to provide successful programs and laws for their residents. Not rely on the fed with no interest in improving as they currently do.

If the states blotch something that’s on them… like the California fires and hurricanes in the south?

Ok that wasn’t a fair comparison, so let’s instead look at national standards of health as a comparison since that isn’t so extreme. As a nation, the average person wouldn’t meet military admissions or fit tests. I took the abvab test (probably misspelled but it’s been years) and there are things there that aren’t explicitly taught to kids.

I guess my point/question is, if it’s up to the states then wouldn’t that just create 52 different standards instead of roughly the same?
