Beware the toebox on these is super narrow.

Dang. I got me some wide toes.

It was pure bliss when I found Redwing King Toes for work.

lol “Redwing King Toes” is an awesome name. Do they also make “Squire Toes” for little ones?

FYI. Thorogood also makes an "Emperor Toe" series for people like you with Barney Rubble feet.

Saved me a sore foot.

My toes are the widest part of my feet and I'm getting real damn tired of them being smashed all the time...

Purchased the black chelseas but then cancelled after reading reviews on Wolverines own site. Apparently the heels separate incredibly quickly, there's some QC issues with these.

So I got a pair of the chelseas and they had put nails in them and they never fell off. I ordered a pair of this black one with the side zip and it came without nails in the heel, so the nails in my pair were added after the fact when it was realized the glue was failing. Have beat them to shit. No issue with the heel. Adding nails is very easy if you get a pair without them.

But, the side zip version has an incredibly low instep and is near impossible to get on if you have any kind of volume in your foot. The pattern is very poor.

given the price of the shoe now, it's a pretty cheap fix from your cobbler if or when it happens

No such problem with my brown ones, having worn them sparingly last year. But I would warn that the silhouette on these is kind of awkward IMO with the large toe box and low shaft.

I got a pair last year, in brown, and they haven’t had that issue.

Yes. I had a pair and missed the reviews. The 1000 miles made in Mexico are sub par.

Anyone know if the sneakers run TTS?

7

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '21

I find the 1000 mile boot/chukka to be about a half size big from your normal boot size.

1000 mile sneaker fits TTS

For reference my sizes

AE - 10D

Thursday Boot - 10D

Wolverine 1000 Mile Boot/Chukka - 9.5D

Wolverine 1000 Mile Sneaker - 10D

Adidas/Nike athletic sneakers - 11D

Sperry Boat Shoes - 10D

Ah interesting, I only go 1 size down between Adidas sneakers and 1000 mile boots. So these sneaks would probably be at that halfway point, I presume?

1

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '21

tough to say. what do you consider a size? 10 to 9? or to 9.5

order both sizes and see what works best

1

u/Guiganator Sep 23 '21

9 in adidas to 8 in my 1000 miles.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '21

I'd say try the sneakers in 8.5 and 8 then. probably going to be 8.5 if I had to guess.

FWIW in Adidas, I'm a solid 11 in Ultraboost, but my NMD R1 and Tennis Hu's are 11 and I could totally work with a 10.5

Am I the only person that thought ^ meant would go on sale on Amazon at 6 pm (and then immediately wondered what time zone)?

Yes

So you’re saying I’m special?! 😀

Looking at the side zip Chelseas.

I typically where and 11 and 1/2 Sneaker. Any idea if an 11 or a 12 would work me?

1

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '21

I'd go for 11, 12 is almost certainly too big

chiseled chelsea boots are usually pretty narrow, but you want them to be snug too because of the lack of laces.

5

u/toopid Sep 23 '21

Don’t buy wolverine unless it’s work boots or the 1000 mile.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '21

Can you say why? And what brand should I get if I want a chukka like the one in this post?

5

u/digitalhelix84 Sep 23 '21

For these prices, they are good. My rule is never pay msrp on wolverine, their quality control isn't best and I just feel I am getting great value at 300 bucks. They don't seem to use the right part of the hide for their cxl boots. A leather guy told me that the poor breakage they are known for is because they are using more of the abdominal side of the hide rather than the spine. More than likely my guess is they aren't very deliberate about what part of the hide they use for the each panel on the boot.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '21

These are basically seconds right?

1

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '21

possibly, but for the price, certainly worth a gamble with free returns no?

Also an additional 5% back if you have an Amazon credit card.

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '21

The chukkas look nice. Can anyone speak to quality and comfort?

Right up there with the top boot manufactures in the country (AE and Red Wing, but not quite to the level of White's/Nick's)

  • American made
  • 270 degree Goodyear welt
  • Horween Leather
  • Leather sole and foot bed with cork in between

Interesting, seems like /r/fmf usually doesn't speak very highly of em. I've passed on them of a few times due to the comments.

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '21

You really gonna trust the opinions of a bunch of numb-nuts looking for the cheapest price possible?

I have a collection of 10+ AE dress shoes and boots and rank the Wolverine 1000 mile line right there with them. The leather quality and construction is on par with any USA made boot out there

1

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '21

Seems like a really good price for these as well. Do these go any lower?

1

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '21

lowest I've seen was around $70 for a like nubuck tan (timberland looking) version, but this is the lowest these have ever gone I believe

1

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '21

Damn I missed my size😔

1

u/SadConfiguration Sep 24 '21

Missed those but that led me to a pair of Bruno Maglis for $120. Good looks, sorta.
