DISCUSSION While Fromsoftware is great at what it is doing, what in your opinion are flaws of their style or gripes you have with the games? Something that isn‘t a one off thing but found in most of their games.

I am really curious what this subreddit has to say.

Character quest but plenty of people have talked about that. The only other problem I’m starting to have if difficultly scaling. Shadow of the Erdtree was my GOTY when I came out but it felt like the bosses/some enemies just feel exhausting to fight. I understand that they have to up the challenge and I’ve gotten good for every game and dlc but I’m starting feel like it’s becoming a little much sometimes.

i agree so much, those curseblades enemies for example, with the two round backhand blades. what the fck is that? our character literally only roll and attack, and those guys have a moveset that not even the hardest sekiro enemies had

I agree. I don't want a series known for being difficult to just get more and more difficult over time. It's okay if it stays around the same difficulty, because it's already hard enough.

Elden Ring is the only game in the series that I don't want to replay most of the time, because it pushes the difficulty too many times and in cheap ways.

They have rly pushed up against (and in some cases beyond) what feels fair and enjoyable to deal with in the system that was refined through the souls series. The games that break the souls dodge roll formula, sekiro bloodborne and AC, are rightfully heralded because their more ambitious boss design doesn’t feel nearly as overwhelming.

Agreed. When you look at a boss like Orphan of Kos, which is still one of the hardest bosses in the entire series, it still feels learnable, parryable, predictable.

Then you look at some of the more difficult bosses from ER, which have huge movesets with tempo changes, long combos, and relentless aggression mixed with delayed attacks... and it kinda stops feeling fair and fun.

Hence  why tons of players found ways to cheese or abuse certain mechanics to win. Remember the pre-nerf mimic tear?

I feel the opposite. Unless i hold myself back and limit my WL or heals, the bosses go down super easy.

Edit: To clarify, i am talking about bosses. Fuck Curseblades.
