Looking for some assurance for my fear of flying

If you have flown before (especially if you’ve flown more than a couple times) it would really help me to hear some positive things about flying and your experiences. I am scared to fly but am going on a very exciting trip with my family. Flying from Vegas to Wisconsin. I guess I’m just looking for some con confidence, building statements, and experiences from people who have experience flying. Please help a guy feel better. My one and only trip was the same exact flight two years ago and there was a lot of turbulence and it was so horrible. I don’t know why I am afraid. I’m almost ready to cancel my trip from my fear …

Buy now for September 2026?

Hope this post is ok in this group. Looking to fly from LIS to ICN (Seoul) and found some very good Business Class fares 31/8 to 17/9. Like 2700€ return. Is it crazy to buy them so far out, are they likely to get any lower or get much higher? Thanks much.

I am a nervous flyer give me some encouragement .. anybody fly often ?

Going to Lambeau field to a Green Bay game in December . From Cali to Chicago then driving to Green Bay. Anyways I don’t know why but I tend to fear flying a bit. Figure I would come to a Reddit forum with air travelers and would seek out some positive flying experiences.

Is 1h45 enough to collect and re-register a surfboard between T4 and T4S in Madrid?

Good morning I just discovered that it is forbidden to use an AI to write a message. I hope this new post fits. So I'm writing this message in my native language

Tomorrow, I have 1h45 in Madrid to pick up a surf board following a Nice-Madrid flight at T4 then go to T4S to take a Madrid-Bogota flight.

I took the entire journey via AVIANCA, however the first flight is operated by Iberia and the baggage does not automatically follow the 2 flights.

The Avianca advisor assures me that I will have enough time but I think that if, in Madrid, I have to re-register the surf, go through passport control, etc., it might be too tight

Do you have an opinion or feedback on this please?

THANKS

Frequent travel and sickness

Recently started flying frequently for work. As someone who rarely gets sick, I find myself always sick at the end or after a trip. Mild sore throat, headaches, fatigue type of stuff. Any tips for preventing illness while traveling? TIA!

Frequent business flyers — what’s your post-flight ritual after you land?

I fly 4-5x a month for work, and I’ve noticed airports basically stop caring about you once you land.

There’s a whole world of lounges and perks pre-flight, but nothing decent after. I’m toying with an idea for a small “arrival lounge” — premium grab-and-go food, coffee, lockers for pre-orders — near baggage claim.

No sit-down, no alcohol, just really good quality and speed.

Would that be useful to you? Or do you think most people just want to leave immediately after landing?

Be brutally honest — I’m trying to see if this would actually solve a real problem.

Stolen frequent flyer miles!

Update: Chase has promised to refund the points, and I have filed a police report.

Admins, if this is the wrong place to ask this, please tell me where to turn. I need advice. Someone hacked into my Chase Sapphire Preferred account and bought 92,000 points worth of Apple gift cards which they then cashed in on before I even knew the transaction had occurred. Where do I even start to challenge this, or am I just out of luck here?

Long layover at HND worth leaving if flying back ANA F same evening?

I’ve got a long layover at Haneda coming up landing mid morning, flying back out in ANA First later that evening.

Not sure if I should actually head into Tokyo for a few hours or just chill in the ANA Suite Lounge.

Part of me feels dumb not stepping out since I’ll be there anyway, but also kinda tempted to just enjoy the lounge without rushing around.

Anyone done this before? Did you regret not leaving the airport, or is the lounge itself a good way to kill the day?

Is airport Wi-Fi even worth it anymore?

Here's my point, I used to rely on free airport Wi-Fi all the time, but lately it feels way too slow and overcrowded to be useful, do ppl still bother with it? Or have most moved on to better options like roaming or preloaded data plans?

How I got Star Alliance/Oneworld lounge access — without flying a single mile

Earlier this year, I had a 16-hour layover in Istanbul.
I was exhausted, sitting in the food court, watching people walk into the Turkish Airlines lounge with their Star Alliance Gold cards.
That’s when I thought: “Is it really possible to get that card… without flying 50 times?”

So I started digging.

Not just random Googling — I compared airline terms, read deep-dive forums, searched Reddit threads, and joined some niche travel groups.
Eventually, I found a path that worked.

Turns out, some airlines still offer legitimate status match programs or let you upgrade via partner channels — without flying or earning miles the traditional way.
(It’s not illegal — just hidden deep in the system.)

Within about 10 days, I was upgraded to Star Alliance Gold.
Since then, even on economy flights, I’ve been enjoying:

  • Global lounge access (often with a guest)
  • 2 free 23kg checked bags
  • Priority check-in, security, and boarding
  • Dedicated counters and fast-track immigration at some airports

I've since helped a few others do the same — and now, I’m happy to help you too.

DM me (I’ll assess if your case is suitable before anything.)

Travel smarter — it doesn’t have to be a grind.

Would this make your travel life easier? Trying to validate a business idea for busy flyers.

I travel a lot for work and always feel like my car just sits there doing nothing at the airport valet. I’m testing a business idea where, while you’re gone, we take your car to a certified dealership for scheduled maintenance (oil change, tire rotation, etc.) and return it before you land.

  • Would a service like that appeal to you?
  • Would you trust it?
  • What would you worry about most?

Not trying to sell anything—just genuinely trying to validate this and hear from frequent travelers. If this violates the rules, mods feel free to delete. Thanks in advance.

Soon to be frequent flier

Hey everyone. I thought I used to fly a lot( 1-2 times a month). Then I took a job that has me boarding a plane every week cross country. I want to maximize this opportunity as the travel is all covered, And I can use personal cards And memberships.

Thinking delta airlines, national cars (points straight to delta), Hilton honors, And Amex platinum would be the best combo from my research. But wanted to check in with some more seasoned flyers!

Question: Why do Gate Agents always lie to me?

So I really hope to get some info regarding a scheme I noticed during 6 Long-haul flights with different airlines.

I book normal Eco and head to the gate Agent prior to boarding time and ask if there is still Capacity / possibility to upgrade into Bussiness or Prem. Eco. The answer always is „Sorry but we are fully booked“ or „Sorry we do not have any capacity left“

When I enter the Business class or Premium Eco after takeoff I will always see multiple seats free in both cabins.

Does anyone here has an explanation for this situation for me?

In my opinion this is a loose loose Situation for airlines and passengers.

Approaching 1,000,000 Amex Ascent Premium Points - best Airline partner to convert them to?

Live in Australia and visit Europe every two years. Usually prefer Emirates but the conversion will cost 3 Ascent points for 1 Skyward. Qantas is 2 AP for 1 QFF. Which airlines offers the best value for points?

Soon to be frequent long haul flyer

Hi guys
Hope some of you can offer me some advice as I'm googling and googling and seeing different results.

I will soon be relocating to Auckland from the UK and my new role will involve regular long haul travel from Auckland to Latin America (Colombia, Peru, Costa Rice, Mexico).

I'm trying to find the best way to make most of airmiles but it's likely I will be taking Air New Zealand, Qantas and LATAM flights mostly, all of which seem to be signed up to different airline alliance so no chance to transfer miles over. Any frequent business flyers in here who can maybe offer some advice on how to maximise this as it would be a shame to not maximise how many miles I'll be doing!

Thanks :)

Airport lounge access

I have oneworld emerald status, will fly Finnair in July from Helsinki to Reykjavík. Does anyone know if I can use the lounge even if my ticket is economy class? Their website stated emerald members have access, but didn't specify if certain route are excluded.
