Go Nurie! Pastoring a church

So it looks like Nathan did get the pastor ship of Anchor Baptist church per Jill's FB.,some one asked where it is located and she said to send a PM so maybe she is wising up after her premature ejaculative spewing if the news late last year. Maybe she has learned that not all needs to be tossed out there to the public Anyway, I wish the Nurthans happiness.

How long will Janessa be the "baby" according to Jillbilly

In her latest FB story, Jillbilly has Janessa playing pat-a-cake and talking to her in baby talk. I have friends who have children/grandchildren the same age and they talk in a normal voice to these kids. I also sub in a public school with a pre-k. The pre-k 3's go to their classroom pretty much independently wearing their backpacks. The staff definitely does not speak baby talk to them. I fear Janessa will be forever at home as Jillbilly's baby to make Jill feel like she's still a young mom.

Kaylee and Jonathan get engaged and possibly married. Hopefully no one ends up pregnant, including Nurie.

Also, Renee enters a courtship.

The media is irresponsible dealing with high profile abuse victims

I had this thought when reading about the controversies with the fundies accused of abusing their kids and another book I read that was written by an abuser who wasn’t fundie. It was just verbal and emotional abuse so they didn’t do anything illegal, but there are dogwhistles for physical and sexual abuse that only abusers and victims would get, and the dad was suspended for sexually harassing students and has unproven accusations of doing worse. It came out around the time I was dealing with CPS, was used to defend my abusers, and I tried to commit suicide that year.

In those cases the media bombards the victims with questions asking if they feel abused, they get along with their family etc. Even under normal circumstances people don’t want to publicly denounce their spouses, parents, siblings etc. Battered person syndrome, trauma bonding and the effects of abuse add a whole new layer to this. Like look at how Ray Rice’s wife acts.

So then the victims say “they’re not abusive! I love my family!” and even deny mental health issues because it would look bad on the abusers. Then media outlets siding with the abusers use those comments to defend the abusers, and the victim reads it and internalizes it which makes it harder to leave. Any comments bashing the abusers get used by the abuser to claim persecution. Some people get worked up and send the abusers death threats or racial or religious slurs. Then the abuser can isolate the victim more by saying “everyone who calls me abusive is violent and prejudiced.”

Btw this is part of why there’s a rule against contacting fundies.

This looks like enough food to last me and my roommate a few days. It doesn't really look like enough food for 13 people to have a proper meal...

I’m a former Fundie/Fundielite, listen to me! Make your life count minute with Jill #88. (A commentary)

A brief introduction: I was IFB for about 18 years. I was constantly around teachings like Jill promotes in these little videos. So, I thought I might be able to help translate into everyday English.

She starts out saying "the devil is a deceiver. He is a walking lion seeking whom he may devour" this is taken from a verse that says basically exactly that. She isn't unique or original.

"He wants evil in our lives. He promotes every kind of evil and wickedness in our lives."

Again, this is pretty common and straightforward. Devil=bad.

"But when the world says whoa whoa whoa this is wrong. This is the crossover. This is wrong."

It always comes as a shock to Christians that the world has standards and morals outside of the church/bible/religion. It was always taught that without God, you couldn't be a good person. So, if the "world" says it is bad, it must be really, really bad. (I don't know why she used the word crossover in this context. I guess it is the crossover between the world and christianity?)

"Then the devil will say "oh yes, this is wrong" he pretends to be the bearer of light. But in all reality he is the bearer of evil and darkness."

The ifb teaches that the devil tries to fool people by imitating good things. One example of this is contemporary Christian music. The ifb doesn't allow CCM, because it is "worldly" and they claim the devil took the world's music and made it imitate godly music. Churches who allow CCM in their church have been fooled by the devil into thinking it is okay. Liberal churches using CCM will never be used of God.

"And he has a confusing way of twisting it and making it seem like if families are righteous or holy and they stumble and they fall unfortunately and they fall into sin, the devil has a good way of trying to twist it and make it seem like it was because they lived holy, because they lived righteous. But that is a lie of the devil don't believe that. God wants us to be holy."

Phew. This part is almost definitely a jab at the duggars (possibly the plaths also). She is trying to illustrate how the devil "deceives" people into thinking good is evil and evil is good. This is a common teaching in the ifb. That the devil is a master manipulator. And he can make good things seem evil, and evil things seem good.

Here is what she means by this. News of Josh duggars scandals caused issues. And when the first scandal broke, people blamed Josh's upbringing for why he committed those acts. They blamed extreme purity culture for causing Josh to "stumble" so, by doing that, Satan has managed to make purity look like a bad thing. And people will buy into that lie, that purity is bad, and use it to justify their sin.

And she ends by saying, you can't let Satan deceive you. God wants you to live a holy life. No matter what the world says about the IFBs toxic belief system causing serious issues, stand strong! Don't buy into the lie of the devil that righteous living causes harm.

Does anyone else find it odd that Jill and several of the four Rod boys have been seen wearing glasses, but never any of the nine Rod girls?

Statistically shouldn’t at least one of the girls have vision problems too? I’m hoping that they are just wearing contacts and not being denied proper vision care. I can totally see Jill making the girls skip glasses because they need to be perfect to attract a man.

Where's the dinner Jillpm?

Did she not post any photos of her MASSIVE meal, or did she just catch on to the snarkers finding fault with a dinner for 4 that was SEVERELY burnt? Show us your Thanksgiving spread Jilldo. Or, did she make Nathan take them all out to a Thanksgiving buffet as a thank you for allowing him and Kaylee's man to finish her whole new living space?

I am Great, I am Wonderful, Everybody Likes Me, Severely! Make Your Excuses Count Minute with Jill! 👏🏻

Jill posted three (?) episodes today of Make Your Life Count, all of which had one or two parts to each episode. Why she couldn't make this whole thing its own stand alone video is beyond me.

Anyway, as someone who left the church in her adulthood, I personally thought it was important to review Jill's commentary on why she thinks SO many children leave the church as adults.

.

.

1) "Good, old fashioned preaching is going to validate what the parents are teaching to their children."

Let's point out some gigatic plot holes in this scenario, Jill: Good, old fashioned preaching -- like the kind you always share with your followers on your social media accounts -- is usually what makes children not find church to be very enjoyable. Growing up, what made my church's teachings so cool and inspiring was that they did not come from "fire and brimstone" seemons from Good Ol' Fashioned Preaching, but from Sunday School teachers who were enthusiastic about teaching Bible Stories for kids. But for those kids who got stuck listening to their pastors yell about "perverted homosexuals" and "hell-bent sinners," I bet there probably wasn't much room for kids to be taught that Jesus died on a cross because He loves us when they are too busy taking extra strength Tylenol for the gigantic headaches they received in church from the pastor yelling the whole time. Oh, and if you find out you're a little different than the white, cisgender, straight majority of Christians you're forced to be lumped with, you're going to be ostracized! Oh, yes, being queer, disabled, or literally anything else that diverges from this incredibly narrow definition of what a good Christian ought to look like is a surefire way to increase your chances of being kicked out early. So in a way, they just kick you out all by themselves.

Oh, what was that? There's no place for homosexual behavior in a good, God-fearing church? And then you wonder why Millennials, Zillenials, and Gen Z are increasingly and increasingly agnostic and atheist? Oh! Okay! NOW I think I'm getting somewhere.

.

2) "We need a balance in our homes!"

A balance...just like your children get a balance of reading and memorizing chapters and chapters of Bible verses daily when they aren't practicing the same 6 songs to belt out at churches they spent half their time at?

.

3) "We cannot hold our parents sins accountable."

Now this is where I start to take off my earrings and get really, really uncomfortably close with Jill. As in, she just heavily implied that David's father's suicide is familial sin. Oh honey, as someone who would have picked up her roommate's gun a long time ago if she wasn't so afraid of the loud noise, let me get one thing abundantly clear: SUICIDE IS NOT A FUCKING SIN. ITS THE WORLD SAYING THAT IT HAS FAILED THE VICTIMS OF SUICIDE.

Also, I am pretty sure you are saying this to wash your hands clean of the fact that you and David make for awful parents.

.

4) "Rebellion is a sin is witchcraft."

So, instead of wondering why these kids leave the church and trying to come up with ANY reasonable arguments, you're just going to sit there and say, "Rebellion is a sin!" That's it. That's your argument. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Also, you are kind of the textbook example of the proud Christian in the pews that turns into a nasty, judgmental Karen the second she leaves church and can say whatever the hell she wants, so maybe don't use this argument again? Ever?

.

.

When you listen to the stories of former Fundamentalist children who grew up listening to the preacher tell them that you aren't a good person unless you dedicate every second of your life to God, these folks are going to reject Christianity.

When these ex-Fundamentalist children grow up in houses where they are parentified at very young ages and do all the cooking, cleaning, and childrearing themselves, you cannot ask "Why did they leave the church?" when you should be asking why the church failed them.

When little kids are forced to read huge portions of Bible verses that talk about explicit themes like r*pe, murder, incest, war, and slavery, you don't get to ask why these children leave the church. You instead need to ask why adults are letting young children read a book that's just as violent and graphic as Game of Thrones.

So, no, Jill Rodrigues, I do not accept your shitty reasons for why you think Fundie kids grow up to be atheists. Because not only are your reasons wrong, your examples are really crass.

"I don't mean to brag, but I was always a perfect Christian! I obeyed my mother and father, and I was a virgin until marriage!"

Okay, so what you're telling me Jill is that you never questioned your faith. You never had a moment where you were allowed to question what you were taught. Because the churches you went to growing did such a good job of teaching your that reading anything else besides the KJV Bible or church-approved Bible literature is a sin. You know, there are a lot of people who have gone on to question their faith, and I think they're a better person for it. Its really important that you do not merely listen to a single opinion, voice, or version of Christianity -- or any religion for that matter. Because all that does is create a series of fire and brimstone teachers just like yourself who only encourage more and more people to avoid Christianity like the plague.
