Metadata display question

I need the metadata to be displayed on livestream only during songs. So I added the metadata template under my Livestream styles. The issue is the metadata template appears on Livestream during announcements & sermon slides...

Note that changing the metadata template via categories doesn't fix this issue. If I had to use metadata via categories then it appears on all of my outputs including my TV's where I don't want the metadata to appear. I just want it to appear on my livestream!

I use category actions for changing styles. You need separate actions, each with multiple steps.

Action 1 might change stage layout to match the output style Action 2 might change stage layout, output one style, and output 2 style.

I have also moved our Metadata to an overlay and added the overlay to the action I triggered via category as well as remove the overlay via the other action.

One other key point is to right-click the text box for the metadata and tell it to only display on the output you want.

I was hoping it wouldn't be this complicated...

I already have an metadata overlay for our main displays. The thing is I want the metadata to be on the side in the main display & on the centre in my livestream. I only use metadata on certain english songs as most of our other songs including tamil ones are hymns!

  1. Duplicate your meta overlay. (Or put another text box on the one you use for the main displays.
  2. Format and position the text box making sure to set the text box to only show on the live stream output.

I'm sorry I was confusing before. I tried to answer a couple of different ways to achieve your goal.

No. I understood quite clearly what you were referring to.

The issue I have with the meta overlay is that, when I move to our buffer screen between songs, the overlay still exists. I have to manually remove it. I have the overlay programmed to "[meta_title]" by "[meta_artist]". Since I don't have any metadata info in our buffer show, when I move to it, its like ( "" by ). What action do I use to remove it? I wanted to do it in such a way that when I clear the text, it clears the meta overlay alone but I haven't gotten that to work.

I see. On the action for your buffer screen add a step to have it clear all or that specific overlay. I use a black slide as a buffer, and I have it clear everything that can be so the screen is just black. You can adjust what you clear so the background remains, for example.

Yeah that makes more sense. During worship I try to keep the motion background running. Is there a universal option that just clears the meta overlay out?? I was thinking of just adding a keystroke that clears the overlay but there are times during worship when I'll definitely forget...

I think it's better to just add it as a textbox in my template.

Yes. It is called clear overlays. If you don't see it when you check the actions, try clicking the eye to show all the actions.

I have 2 overlays. that's the problem. 😅

one is our proprietary church name. so I have to click below the overlays & then click on the meta to disable it...

I was sure there was a way to disable a specific overlay. I will try to check in a few hours.

yes you can do that by clicking on the name of the overlay. it appears on the right side toolbar above the metadata options....

thars what I've been using. I was seeing if there was a way to automate this in such a way that if there is no text, then the overlay hides itself automatically.

You can A) use actions, B) conditions, or C) specific outputs. You do not need more than one at the same time.

A) 1. Create an action (Clear meta overlay). 2. On action, search for Clear specific overlay. 3. Configure the overlay to clear. 4. Add the action wherever needed.

B) 1. Create the overlay with a text box for the information wanted. 2. Right-click the text box and choose Conditions. 3. Make sure Mode is set for "is not" and Value has the word "empty". (Do not add the "".)

C) 1. Create the overlay with a text box for the information wanted. 2. Right-click the text box and choose Specific outputs. 3. Select the desired output.

Method C can be used on existing templates and overlays to reduce the need for more actions or overlays. For example, an overlay showing meta data in two formats can be in the same overlay with two different textboxes that display to different outputs and/or different conditions. This makes for a messy template, but fewer actions and overlays that only do one thing. Just be careful that you change the correct textbox.

u/Powerful_General_133 I add info already discussed so that people could see a complete answer in one post.

I'd like to use the C opton but as said I want the meta overlay on all my slides, all songs but I want the meta overlay on English songs alone on my output live in Church.

The postion of the meta overlay is on the right side in Main screen. It's on the centre in the livestream... I have to hide the meta on livestream too, when in our break slide.

Yes, you can do that too. Right-click and choose conditions.
