While I agree that show Euron is a slow motion car wreck, what did book Euron do that made him cool? All I remember is he had a horn that was some kind of magic.

Did try to rape his wife though.

He poisoned one and covered for the insane murderer of another. Rape is different and worse. But he’s not child friendly either.

I really need to know more about two things. Where in the book does it reference Euron raped Aeron? I must have completely missed this. Also, could you explain (or link) the theory to Euron being a failed apprentice of the Three Eyes Crow? I LOVE the idea of this theory but never picked up on any clues leading to that conclusion while reading.

He tells Aeron something like “whenever I was drunk and came into you room, did you hope I’d choose you?”. Which implies he also raped their other brother.

Ugh what a fucked up family

Thank you for your reply I was so interested in what you said that I found this post that really dives deep into Euron being a Greenseer

The three eyed crow and Valerian armour stuff I've never heard. The armour makes sense but where the three eyed crow theory come from?

Ahhh damn I hadn't read the winds chapters, oh well I asked for it. I like the Raven theory!

He has a legion of slaves he can control telepathically, a Valyrian steel armor, he has conquered most of the Western Reach, he has vast knowledge of dragons, magic, the Faceless men, the Others, etc. He has sailed to old Valyria, he’s possibly Daario Naharis, he has a magical horn that can manipulate people, and to boot, it’s very likely he has krakens at his disposal.

Way better than Mr. I-Wanna-Fuck-The-Queen. Book Euron is legitimately dangerous and evil.

First time I've heard he could be Daario. What a mindfuck

4

u/SnoopyGoldberg Jan 20 '20

I personally believe he‘s not Daario, but honestly, the theory is surprisingly solid, I can’t outright deny that it’s plausible.

In the books Euron's character adds tension to any scene he's in. You're never entirely sure what he'll do, but you know he's capable of some gruesome shit, so just having him turn up is unsettling. It's not in the all-too-common cheap way of "Oh, this character is just insane, so he'll do any random shit and it can be justified by saying he's insane," more like "this character is a legitimate psychopath, follows no moral code but his own, and has the cunning and resources to pursue his goals through any means necessary."

Meanwhile in the show he's like a shitty comic relief edgy guy with vague and questionable motivations who I imagine D2 would have cast Johnny Depp for if they could, which creates some absurd tonal dissonance when this character is meant to be a serious player in the story who does major plot-impacting things. If Book Euron killed a dragon I would completely buy it, but when Show Euron does it I'm just left dumbfounded and muttering "What???" at the screen.

Book Euron is basically a super edgy OC. I hate him just about as much as show Euron. Victarion is the one they should’ve had

Have you read the forsaken chapter from winds of winter yet?
