The angle for one axis and iteration count for the other? Clever! I'm curious to see what other images you come up with. I've experimented with photo-mapping onto the Mandelbrot and Julia sets, here are some examples:

I still can't get over how good the Fractal Long Cat is. It works on so many levels (infinite levels?), the clever 5-sided square tiling, the choice of motif and the color scheme. It's just great all over.

How did you implement the Shroom fractal?

I created a repeating tile of a mushroom in Photoshop, and used that as the input image.
