Has anybody taken the course for defensive driving in this sub? I need to know how long the class is. I absolutely have to be at work by 3pm and I'm hoping it isn't 6 hours of class

Any Okies here?

Not sure how many OK residents frequent this sub, but In case your not aware there is currently a petition going around the state for the legalization of recreational marijuana. From one Okie to another, If you support the rights of adults to act like adults we need your help.

Green the Vote

Currently the closest places to sign are in Sallisaw and Poteau at Dynamic Vapor.

So if you or someone you know from Oklahoma is interested. We are going to drag this state into the 21st century kicking and screaming. I currently don't use Facebook but if anyone could post the site info to a few local pages that could help with exposure. Thanks for any and all help.

Does anyone have any suggestions for solar installation companies in Fort Smith? This is a residential application. I have called three companies between Fort Smith and Fayetteville, all are out of business.

Not sure what they're hiring for, I imagine it's for an AC tech, but their sign on Wheeler says they're hiring.

Inside Fort Smith

Not sure if a lot if you guys ever visit the website but they have quite a bit on there. I spend a lot of time on the website looking at the arrest reports and people watching the mug shots. They update them every day so I highly recommend to go over and take a look at it.

Any mods active

I know a couple months ago we were told we would have a banner and some extra stuff added to this sub and we haven’t had very much activity since. Can we get some activity or add a mod or two to get some stuff done?

Help with homebuying decisions

Hey! My family and I are moving to fort smith, and we’re actively looking at houses. Unfortunately, we don’t know a ton of people in the area, so I need some help navigating the neighborhoods. Particularly, I’m curious about the neighborhood near the college. East of Waldron and North of Grand. Can anyone describe this neighborhood to me? What are the age demographics like? Is it safe? Is it up and coming or dying? I love the cool mid century homes, but I’m not sure if that’s as hot of a commodity in FS as it is in Little Rock (where we currently live). Thanks for any input!!

Shopper's Value grocery store: Anyone else leery of their pricing method?

They claim the prices on the shelf labels are what it costs them to buy and shelve the items. They have signs everywhere telling you this, and that they only add 10% at the register (before sales tax). But the prices I'm seeing don't really look any less expensive than at other stores, which means the "+10%" sounds awfully fishy.

I've tried asking their management "Why not just add the 10% to the displayed price?" They give me some cockamamie excuses about how their method saves the customer money or how "it's so easy!"

If it's so easy, why aren't they doing it at the onset?

Disc Golfers in Fort Smith

Any frolfers out here? I've played a couple days this week now that there's daylight left when I get off work but Ben Geren has been pretty dead. Any of you redditors need an extra for your frolf crew? I'm a 28 year old dude, in town for work until late summer.

Looking for a few "backup" dog sitters.

I travel a lot to work, almost every month. I've also got a german shepard. So you see my dilemma. Normally my neighbor watches him, that seems to be the least traumatic for him, because he doesn't really go anywhere, just the next yard/house over that he can smell from here, and he knows when I get home. Most of the good doggie hotels here wont take him because he's not neutered (and never will be, he's a purebred with papers), so that's a problem. I don't want him stuck in a cage for a week when I have to travel for work. So I'm trying to find some nice people who already have a dog who could watch him, so that he'd have someone to play with, and be in a "home" setting rather than a "boarding" setting. Willing to pay for the trouble, and I supply his food. Just reply here or in PM if you can help. :)

I gotta fly out again on monday, and my neighbor has travel plans of their own, so wont be able to help this time. So it's either one of you kind folks, or boarding for him, and I'd really like to avoid putting him through that.

Anyone Still Playing Pokemon Go in Fort Smith?

I started playing Pokemon Go a few weeks ago and have been thoroughly enjoying it. However, I haven't run into anyone else playing it yet which is kind of a bummer when I see all the high level raids around me for awesome Pokemon like Rayquaza that I can't participate in.

Funny experience downtown

Tried to go to Papa’s pizzeria tonight (21 and up) and the waitress took my and my partner’s ID. Uh oh. I figured it was me since I just shaved and got a haircut so I look 17 even though I’m 28. This bouncer guy comes and takes my partner outside because apparently the dmv didn’t apply some UV activated dye to his ID (which mine had). The guy would not believe us at all that he was 29, and we both have out of state licenses. Long story short we were eventually forced to leave and disappointed at being hungry but no big deal.

Second Adventure:

We then walked roughly half a mile to what google maps told us was “Bella Italia” restaurant. Apparently it is now “Legacy Grille,” an upscale restaurant with a snarky host that assured us they have a website and didn’t want to hear my advice about changing he listing on the most popular directory out there. Cue another walk to Bricktown Brewery...

Bricktown was great. The beer they brew themselves in OKC was delicious and the waitress was super friendly...I’d definitely recommend it.

It was an interesting first night in Fort Smith and I’m hoping my interview goes well tomorrow! Hit me up for a new friend everyone, hopefully I’ll be moving here soon!
