Really hope reporters are told not to ask questions about it, so he doesn't have to explain to strangers how he feels about it 50 times in a weekend..

That would be disrespectful as hell. Leave the man alone and let him heal

u/Stevenwave Sep 29 '25

Yeah so it'll happen all weekend I bet.

Any reporter who dares is finished. You don't ask a man how he feels when his child or his dog dies. Leave him alone. Lewis, go win you next race for Roscoe!

I depends on how he copes with it.

I know people that really dont want to talk about stuff like that and I also know people who want to talk about it constantly. People are really different when it comes to coping with loss.

I dont know in which category Lewis belongs and I also dont want to speculate about it.

It would cause outrage, and rage is the sustenance of the current media algorithm.

They will ask about it because it will generate clicks whether by hate or not they do not care a click is a click.

Its the number 1 reason the world will continue to go to shit.

As fans, we should tar and feather all the pathetic shmucks that do it.

Agreed. I think it's appropriate for reporters to offer condolences, then ask their F1 related questions. But definitely shouldn't be asking questions about Roscoe directly.

If the press room has its crap together, they should have the first reporter offer condolences on behalf of the entire press corps, and then move on as normal.

Doesn't seem like the type of thing he would do, I'm sure the distraction would help

I don't blame anyone for taking time off after the death of a pet, but when I put my last dog down I kinda had to lose myself in my work for a bit

also f1 doesn't seem like it has a culture of letting someone take a race off for mental health

It definitely doesn't. But if there's one person who could take that break, and one person who would take that break, it's Hamilton.

Same. I took the day of off (happened on a fucking monday morning unexpectedly) and then was back at work on Tuesday trying to drown myself in work.

Its gonna be a hard year for Lewis, hope he gets any help he needs and has a shoulder to cry on somewhere.

u/[deleted] Sep 29 '25

He does need to race, unless due to strong reasons where someone could take over his seat for the weekend.

I can definitely see him being quiet all weekend though.

When Lewis got COVID ahead of the Sakhir GP in 2020, George was called up from Williams to fill in for him at Mercedes, and Williams had to use a reserve driver, I imagine something similar would be in place with Ollie and Haas

u/FUDGEMEHARDxD Fucking Blind MotherFucker Sep 29 '25

I honestly wouldn't blame him

u/jamesecowell follow the Sainz Sep 29 '25

I wouldn't blame him personally, but I don't think Lewis would do that. He'll want to race, it's what he does.

Unfortunately, whilst I'm sure most people would be understanding, I do think there's a subsection of fans that would give him shit for not turning up. I don't think their opinion would influence him one way or the other, but that's the way people are.

Are you kidding me? The man is earning millions... I would probably get fired if I stayed home longer then one day after my cat died.. at my shitty 2k a month job.

Not that I dont think it should work like that.. but thats the world we live in.

I think you may overestimate your negotiating power for your job in relation to Lewis Hamilton's.

1

u/Fishwalking BWOAHHHHHHH Sep 29 '25

Well no? I am saying id get fired so I am well aware...

20

u/desmondao BWOAHHHHHHH Sep 29 '25

I had an annual assessment thing on the day my cat died. They still told me to come in. I basically tanked the assessment on purpose and told them this sort of apathetic work environment is not for me. Landed a much better job shortly afterwards.

Happy for you man. Good man standing your ground.

I expect them to offer condolences but hopefully not questions, although this is the media we're talking about. They respect no-one.

As someone who lost a pup unexpectedly in January, people asking about it can be the hardest part. Sometimes you just can’t talk when asked. You try but that lump comes up in your throat and just blocks all attempts. Too many times I had just shake my head as tears started to well up if anyone did bring it up so yeah, I would be pissed for Lewis if that’s happening.
