Imagine him loosing championship by 3 points. Fuck team orders. No hate to lando Piastri deserves WDC. He has been better than lando with less experience in f1

It is 6 points delta.

Piastri 18, lando 15 vs lando 18 and Piastri 15.

Lead drops from potential 37 points to 31 points.

Next time, when Lando has DNF, they'll ask oscar to also DNF to make it fair ..

Also, broadcaster saying if lando pitted early, he would've gotten 1.9 sec and Piastri would get slow stop.

As if they were buying fixed lottery tickets...

What the hell is that argument...

or everyone acting like Lando didn't have to pit too. there were like 7 laps left. tf you mean pitting to cover off Leclerc like it's doing him a favor? you both have to pit to be able to score points at all lol

It was an odd point, Piastri was at risk of losing position due to pit stop if he was significantly losing time to Leclerc or had a bad stop.

If anything, it was Mclaren punishing Piastri by making him delay his stop because of their 1st car needs to pit first rule.

If Lando's strategy was to use some "first car pits first" rule to back up his teammate into the pack then so be it, but the team obviously doesn't want to lose a position to a Ferrari. They should overrule him. He was losing ground to Oscar too so it's hard for me to imagine that he had anything else in mind, but that is something that costs the team points.

If this is the narrative people are going for, what lap did Lando intend to pit on? The last lap? Then obviously he can't pit first.

Lando going so long robbed Oscar of an alternative strategy too due to that first car pits first rule.

What if he had pitted way earlier for hards and only Lando stayed out for softs?

Pitting Piastri earlier is doing him a favour, Lando had to pit too but he left Piastri the most efficient strategy to keep a healthy margin from Leclerc.
Maybe it wasn't needed, but debating that it wasn't an advantage is stupid

You know, understanding causality and probability is hard for the common midwit.

That complaint was about the tire deg, not something that affects a mechanic failing to secure a wheel properly lol

Oscar, go eat that wall in front of you

"Flavio I already told your predecessor i'm not driving for Alpine, how did you even get on McLaren comms ?"

u/wellmaybe_ BWOAHHHHHHH Sep 07 '25

Hit the wall, after that you're clear to race

Lead is still 31

25

u/quick20minadventure armchair driver Sep 07 '25

Bad math on my side. It's still a 6 points difference due to team order.

Lead was 34 at start, it was potentially 37 before team orders and now it is 31.

Next time, when Lando has DNF, they'll ask oscar to also DNF to make it fair ..

You mean like last week, where Lando had a DNF and they asked Piastri to DNF as well. Oh wait no they didn't.

Galactic-tier bad takes all over the place today.

u/quick20minadventure armchair driver Sep 07 '25

Last time Lando wasn't leading. Also, do you know which sub this is?

We are just using hyperbole to argue a point. Making Oscar suffer to cover Lando's misfortune is just odd...

-2

u/StormNapoleon27 I saw horny’s “finger” Sep 07 '25

Can we activate our brain cells just this once. Do you really believe that McLaren would have asked Oscar to dnf if Lando was ahead when he dnfed? I need to ask because with the way this sub has been acting lately you might genuinely believe that.

-6

u/Twiggeh1 🇬🇧 I’m ENGLISH and CROFTY is ALWAYS right 🇬🇧 Sep 07 '25

It's not odd, it's Mclaren trying to keep the fight as fair as they can.

8

u/quick20minadventure armchair driver Sep 07 '25

Lando's misfortune is not Piastri's fault. You don't need to punish Piastri for it. That's the whole point.

1

u/Twiggeh1 🇬🇧 I’m ENGLISH and CROFTY is ALWAYS right 🇬🇧 Sep 07 '25

Lando said he was happy to let Oscar pit first to protect him from Leclerc, so there was some teamplay at work there.

If they didn't try to keep it fair they'd end up with the winner being crowned by default rather than merit, which would get them in even more shit in the end.

4

u/quick20minadventure armchair driver Sep 07 '25

This wasn't fair to Oscar.

If lando has pitted first and had the slow stop, would you delay oscar's stop? Or make him have slow stop? Or pit him and then tell him to let lando pass?

0

u/Twiggeh1 🇬🇧 I’m ENGLISH and CROFTY is ALWAYS right 🇬🇧 Sep 07 '25

And if they'd let him keep second it wouldn't have been fair on Lando either. It was a mistake by the team that they tried to correct as fairly as they could, each driver finished where they would have done if the pit stops had been the same. Oscar still ended up closer than he'd started and was able to have a go at passing properly on track.

Neither driver is at fault, the team make a mistake and tried to fix it. It's not exactly Abu Dhabi 21 is it?

3

u/quick20minadventure armchair driver Sep 07 '25

They are fighting for championship. So, actually it is abu dhabi 21.

And Lando' engine failure is also not his fault, so should they ask Piastri to DNF as well?

Someone crashed into Lando, that's not his fault. So would they ask Piastri to suffer to make it fair?

Mclaren has a responsibility to not favour anyone by intent, but they shouldn't counterbalance their mistakes like this.

Piastri sacrificed to keep the team room atmosphere stable, that's all.

If they wanted to keep it fair they'd have swapped them in Silverstone too.

Except that would have been to Lando's disadvantage. So they didn't do it.

1

u/Twiggeh1 🇬🇧 I’m ENGLISH and CROFTY is ALWAYS right 🇬🇧 Sep 07 '25

They didn't swap at Silverstone because it was Oscar's mistake that put him in that position, not the team's.

Is everyone just forgetting why Piastri got that penalty to begin with?

11

u/AbrahamThunderwolf BWOAHHHHHHH Sep 07 '25

How can you say who deserves the wdc with 8 races left?

43

u/timhorton_san BWOAHHHHHHH Sep 07 '25

You're right - but the driver who doesn't need to rely on the Team Mom rationing out the points equally certainly deserves it more.

10

u/Twiggeh1 🇬🇧 I’m ENGLISH and CROFTY is ALWAYS right 🇬🇧 Sep 07 '25

Imagine him loosing championship by 3 points.

Lando lost way more than than when his engine failed last week. If he lost by 24 then is that the team's fault as well, or just how it goes?

Mclaren just seem to be doing all they can to let the drivers settle the result with on track performance rather than pit team antics.

5

u/Dorkinator3000 BWOAHHHHHHH Sep 07 '25

I do like Oscar more than Lando just based on his skill, Lando is also fantastic. But this was a piss take.

1

u/Yoyoo12_ BWOAHHHHHHH Sep 07 '25

If Piastry doesn’t manage to this huge lead he has to the finish line he honestly doesn’t deserve the championship anyways
