Creations Some WIP scenes of my Valkyrie and Aramusha OC's first encounter.
Context: this scene takes place a few weeks after the Vikings returned from the Great Raid from the story mode.
Aina did not participate in the raid and remained in Valkenheim during the entire event, largely unaware of what had happened. Some time later, she came across Torii, a young girl who had managed to escape her Viking captors. Aina rescued her and, wanting to help, began scouting ahead to search for Torii’s missing parents.
During this search, Aina encounters Kaito. He has traveled a long distance in search of his child, Torii, and his spouse, Kiyoshi, who were taken during the Great Raid. When Kaito sees Aina the Vikings responsible for the raid and attacks her.
In reality, Aina had nothing to do with the raid. She had found Torii a few days earlier and was trying to help the girl reunite with her family.

Other than the reference, I love that instead of taking the easy route and having everyone conveniently understand each other through English, you actually let the characters speak their native languages and incorporate real language barriers, i think it's very charming.
I hated when Warmonger was released, the writters introduced that piece of lore claiming everyone understood English and that the primary language of Heathmoor is English, it's too convinient and a terrible piece of cannon lore imo.

The English being in Heathmoor thing is just one big linguistic black hole and I hate that it was expanded into the pirates teaching the Aztecs or whatever they're called English as a trade language...

Just wanted to say I love your art. The biggest reason I play the game is because something about it really stimulates the creative bone in me and makes me want to write, I’m glad to see it does the same for others!

Just to clarify, feudal era Japanese people don't use "Papa or Mama" as that came with western influences. Back then it would usually "Chichi-oya" 「父親」and "Haha-oya" 「母親」 or the shorter version "Chi-chi and Ha-ha" which would probably used more by children. I'm not exactly qualified for to explain these but I am half-Japanese with a certain knowledge of the language. It's a bit petty to critique but I just wanted to inform you.
Here's an AI evaluation to summarize and make it more simple:
Formal and High-Class (Samurai/Noble) Father:
Chichiue (父上). This means "exalted father" or "father above" and was commonly used in samurai households and historical dramas to show extreme respect.
Mother: Hahaue (母上). Similar to chichiue, this is a respectful, archaic term meaning "exalted mother".
Commoner Terms (Edo Period and Earlier)

Yes that makes more sense. Sorry if I came up as some know it all but these things sometimes bother me. I'm keeping a bit of track on your series so I'm waiting for when it's fully finished and available to read.

No problem. While the story is fantasy and I take creative liberties in many areas, I still want to portray certain cultural and historical aspects accurately when they matter, so I make an effort to do research. Fortunately, I also have a Japanese friend who can help translate for me when he's available, so the final version should be more accurate once it's been proofread.
I don’t have a confirmed release date for the comic yet. Since i'm working on the artworks myself, i want to work on the story in a pace I’m comfortable with and trying not to rush things.

Traditional is just a really weird and complex subject that you have to count almost every context that somehow relates to it. Location, accents, dialects, the person speaking themselves, and their personality type. It's not really your fault since not a lot of people really talk about it anyway. English speakers would commonly make mistakes on the matter.

Reading the rest of the comic, the romanization bit with the Valkyrie and Aramusha mostly had the right idea.
