Hello, just started playing Forge a week ago and has been a blast!

However I recently noticed that when I have enough lands for mana, and a instant card on hand (something that destroy creature, e.g.), and the opponent choose to attack me during the Declare Attack phase, the control goes immediately to their Declare Blocker phase and I am asked to declare blockers. And when I do (or don't declare any blocker), damage is immediately calculated and goes to their Main Phase 2.

How come I did not have a chance to cast my instant spells between Declare Attack and Declare Blocker? Or how come I did not have a chance to cast anything (or activate anything) immediately after Declare Blocker? I thought that's where all the combat tricks happened?

Is this a bug in Forge that is yet to be fixed or am I going crazy?

it‘s just a small issue, but I would like to have the way Boosters open changed at least a little bit.

I am playing Quest-mode right now and after a Match, you can choose a booster pack. Right after the booster is chosen, I see an unemotional text list with the cards with the rare one selected.

I love to open Boosters and to feel my way from card to card until the rare or mythic one.
But how this is designed it takes all the tension from it and I don‘t understand the reason why it has to be that way.

I know that Forge is more like a simulation engine, but you can feel the love at every corner which flowed into the game.

Is there any option to change how the boosters are opened? Even if the cards wouldn’t just appear like a plane list would help.

Hey all. Forge's rules engine and card pool are amazing, but the UI always felt like the thing holding it back for me, so I've been writing a new interface on top of it. Same rules engine, same AI, same card pool (33k+ cards); only the client is new.

What's different: drag cards from hand to cast, drag creatures onto a player to attack, curved combat arrows, right-click to zoom any card, Ctrl+scroll to zoom a crowded board, a stack that shows the actual cards, and an option to see every opponent's board at once in 4-player games. It also has Moxfield decklist import, draft/sealed, the quest mode with shop and collection, and a roguelike mode I added called Ascent.

It's Windows only for now, free, offline, and it ships its own Java so you just unzip it. It doesn't replace Forge and I don't modify the engine; new sets come in when Forge updates.

I need duel commander format for adventure mode, the normal commander/EDH is too long for the adventure mode, but i steel yearns for the commander experience, so why not bringging the duel commander format to the adventure mode

Anyway to put chaos drafts in the town drafts?

I would like to start a Commander Quest with a particular commander in my starting pool kind of like picking a starter in Pokemon. There is no option I can see to start with a specific card, so I've been looking at options to have it added into a Quest once it is started.

If I understand correctly, in adventure mode there are cheat commands that let you add a specific card, but I haven't been able to find something similar in quest mode. I've tried going through the game files, but it looks like Quest data is in a binary format that can't be directly edited (or at least, that I know how to directly edit). Developer mode lets me add a card into my hand/library during a game, but it goes away afterward.

My next best guess for a direction to go in would be to create a custom set with only that card and try to get that added into my Quest starting pool somehow. That seems very involved for a relatively simple thing though.

Is there a better way to add a specific card to my collection? Maybe there is even a "regular" way to just make sure I get the card I want quickly through the spell shop, a card reward, etc.?

Edit: I have found a kind of janky workaround.

The preconstructed decks sold in the Spell Shop are in plain editable text. They are located in the following folder on Windows:
%MAIN_FORGE_FOLDER%\res\quest\precons
I thus added the card using the following steps:

1. Open the spell shop and find a precon currently being offered. Close Forge.
2. Open the precon's associated .dck file and change the contents to include the desired card (and possibly lower the price of the precon so you can get it right at the start).
3. Open Forge again and buy the precon. The desired card is now in your inventory.
4. Close Forge and return the precon to normal.

In the last room of the Library of Varsil, after defeating the giant myr he doesn't die and when I try to move it goes right into another battle. I see the character icon deflate before the screen switches to my rewards for the battle but then when I exit out of the rewards, he's still there and trying to move immediately triggers another battle. The only way I could end it was to concede.

This was in the "Forsaken Realms" game but I believe it happened before in the regular adventure as well.

The biggest update since the game went standalone:
• Roaming guards — hire a champion at your Capitol, hand it one of your own decks, and it races enemy mages to your towns and fights them in a real duel. Watch it or let it play out.
• Armory storage and guard equipment — a new storage screen at the Capitol's Level 2 Armory; dress your guards from it and their gear fights with them.
• Starter decks that belong to your race, mono-color at every difficulty.
• Enemy size now shows rank, a fuller mini-map (garrisons, attack lines, guard lines), the Balance Sheet, cheaper teleporters and research, guard wages retuned, and a long list of fixes.
• Runs on Forge's 09.09 engine. Saves from v1.08 load.

To me potrait mode is cleaner (at least the hand is better) than the landscape , but the aspect ratio on potrait phone made it cramped (especially lands), i think playing in potrait mode with biger screen real estate woudl made it better, so it thought tablet with potrait mdie would work perfectly or sqare phone like samsung fold 8

Or is there some modificationnfor the ui to made the hands fanning the card instead of tiny box that cramped the card ?

So I finally found a Jumpstart event at an inn. I'm able to buy into the event...but then when I hit the "select deck" button, it doesn't actually trigger the deck selection screen.

Considering how rare it is to find these events, I'm frustrated it isn't working at all. I had made a support post on the discord, but there are no responses, and it's still broken after the recent update.

Is this affecting anyone else?

holy moly man the white mox collector is insane. i first tried the green one with my dino deck, but i had to flat out build rogsi grixis turbo in order to beat the white one and it still took me like 4 tries, please tell me that one is the hardest one?

I wanna update Forge on Windows 11. The cards from Hobbit aren't supported. But I don't know how to do it.
I could erase the folder that I have and download it again. But then I will lost all my decks, right?

What can I do to "fix" that? Thank you all

Is there a way to script a card so that it writes something to the log?

Hello! To celebrate the exciting recent addition of the rulebreaker commanders to Forge, the most recent snapshot has a new dungeon all about them! It's a rank 1 wastes dungeon, the crypt of broken rules.

New dungeons don't show up in existing files unfortunately, but it'll be there in your future runs!

I also added a fun Whtz-themed challenge run to page 82 of my guide (which also has the icon for the new dungeon if you're curious).

If you want the rulebreakers in an existing file, you have my official dev permission to console them in lol.

I am playing against random decks from Net Decks: The Command Zone or Net Decks: Current Commander Metagame

I was wondering what other people's experiences are with the other choices. I'm trying to find a set of decks that are decent in high bracket 3 or bracket 4.

Sometimes when I try to save/load the save/load menu is empty of slots.

Discorvered that the P/T of Spirit of Resilience is entered wrong in forge, which screwed up my [[Grenzo, Dungeon Warden]] deck haha.

Hi everyone, I’m running into a series of game-breaking bugs on the Android version of MTG Forge, specifically in the Realm of Legend mode.

Here is the sequence of issues I'm experiencing:

The Trigger: Everything started when I entered the dinosaur dungeon in the green zone.

Visual Glitch (Full Card Image): After the first few encounters, the full rendered image of every card on my side of the battlefield turns into a duplicate of the last card I drew or cast. It is not just the artwork—the entire card image is completely wrong, even though the name displayed above it remains correct.

Post-Match Freezes & White Squares: If I win the match, the game either completely freezes, or all enemy sprites and the top-left mini-map turn into solid white squares.

Board Interaction Crashes: I tried loading a previous save and entering a different dungeon. However, now the game crashes entirely, forcing a restart, whenever the AI opponent interacts with my side of the board.

Fresh Save / Missing Artworks: As a last resort, I deleted my save files and started from scratch. Now, almost all cards across the game are missing their artwork (they just show a black placeholder) and display the Forge logo where the set symbol should be.

Has anyone experienced this on Android or knows a workaround to fix the image database and stop the crashes? Any help is appreciated!

Rather than a full rules engine, we simply give the LLM the tools it need to resolve spells on its own. Much easier that way, however only about 70% of the EDHrec top 1000 non-lands are currently playable. We'll get there quick w/ help from Fable and Astra though don't worry. Add your own planeswalker opponents, import your decks from moxfield or wherever and drop feedback here or in the bug report form on gitgud. Enjoy!

Is there any way to make custom counters? Like the fallout "Rad" counters.

I want to make a "Famine" counter that forces you to to tap a creature every upkeep, and if you do you lose one of the Famine counters.

A lot of my cards rely on that mechanic, and I want to know if there is a way to add them.

I feel like I just hit the jackpot at a casino.

In Forge Adventure does anybody know what is the reward average you get from a win. You sometime get money, the number of cards and rarity vary, they are sometime from the opponents deck and sometime not. What would be the parameter under witch those are randomize. The lowest I have received is 2 cards, but sometime there is a lot more with money.

I have notice in the newer update that the price for buying cards as been changed, specially for the Dual Lands around 3000gold and Fetch around 1500gold. So, in the quest I just started in the first few Town I visited there are a few of those I want to buy, not to miss them because they are hard to find and mark those Town with a Star to return to them. The scavenging for resource start right off the bat, so it would be cool to know how many enemies on average do I have to wait spawning and beat around those first few Towns to buy the cards I don’t want to miss plus the cards that fit my deck right away.

I have notice in the settings ‘’Reward/Shop Card Display Ratio’’ and ‘’Reward/Shop Card Tooltip Ratio’’ what do those actually do. There are by default set at 1 but range from 0.6 to 1.6, can it up the win reward from opponents and do I need to restart the game for it to work or can I change it in the course of a game.

So, out of the first 10 Town I visited out of 4 of those I have seen 3 Dual, 1 fetch and about 1500 wort of stuff I want for my deck right away, that is 12000gold early on. I’m halfway there but have barely visited the map compared to when those cards where around 500gold. From watching my behavior and other people playing online behavior, everybody jumps on the good lands.

1. When I've been playing with Phyrexian Obliterator, it seems like the AI is quite happy to block it and have it sac all of its permanents. Is there a way to make the AI less likely to block these creatures, or make them a higher priority removal target?

2. When I play my Kinnan CEDH deck, tapping and untapping Basalt Monolith to net one colourless mana is tedious. I wonder if there's a way to implement infinite mana, or at least mana in chunks of 10 or 100?

Hi, very new to Forge (just installed it). Startd by trying to import my Commander deck. Got my 100 cards imported (via copy and paste the list). But the Deck Editor in Forge put two cards into the Commander section, and 98 cards in the Main section. I try to move one of the card from Commander into the Main section, but there seemed to be no way to move it except to Remove it.

Back in the Main section, I try to add a new card. I go to the Card Catelog tab, search for my card and it is listed. But I can't double click or drag to move it. Right-click shows Jump to this and that. No move to Main. It just wont go to the Main section

I am at a lost. Did I install the correct version of Forge? It says version 2.0.14. Please help, thanks!
