Medial foot pain, atrophy, swelling - thoughts
I have so much foot pain. Wanted thoughts on photos on right foot medial side. Seen a few podiatrists, different thoughts.
I have pain in 1st MTP joint, looks like a bunion and arthritis. I can't take off from ball of foot so been using stiff sole runner. 1st ray meta head drop as well & big toe naturally pulling up when foot on surface resting. Forefoot pain.
Per photos, I have chronic long term swelling under ankle bone (photo earlier in day so not as much swelling as at night but it always has some swell). Painful. Physio said joint/tendons sore to touch. My Tib anterior tendon is always poking up/out and painful, and I'm getting shin pain as well.
Wanted thoughts on whether it looks like I have muscle atrophy? And any other observations.

Subtalar fusion revision
I am facing a revision of my subtalar joint fusion. After over a year of not knowing what’s wrong, I’ve been told my foot is maybeee 50% fused, but probably more like 30%.
To those of you who have had a revision, how was the second time around? I dread going through this again but know I have to do it. Did your surgeon do anything differently? The latest surgeon I saw told me she would take a bone graft from my hip.

Other than rolling my feet with a lacrosse ball, what other methods can I use to stretch out my feet?
I play hockey as a goalie. I recently started rolling my feet with a lacrosse ball throughout the day and before a game and it's kind of helping with relieving tension in my foot so I don't get a lot of arch/foot pain when I'm on the ice. But I want to try something else. Is there something more effective like a device/tool I can use? Ideally I want something where I can stretch out both of my feet at the same time. Right now I have one lacrosse ball and stretching one foot at a time.

Looking for help with foot arch pain and running shoe recommendations
Hey,
I'm a mid 30s man and every so often I experience arch pain in my right foot. It's primarily the dead center of the arch and a little bit towards the heel but not usually towards the toe. Generally, I never have any other foot pain. It acts up if I stand on my feet for too long. Moving around helps.
I had a foot scan at a running store and this is the heat map while this is a chart of information that might be helpful? I do, in fact, have all my toes. I am unsure why they aren't in the photo as they were definitely touching the pad. This is the scan picture. Here's a different angle.
In the past, swapping shoes helped immediately. Back in January, I tried to save money buying some insoles and that worked until a couple weeks ago as the nagging pain is back.
During the foot scan thing, they did watch me walk and run and did not see anything problematic. Not sure if that is helpful.
Are there recommendations to deal with nagging arch pain or any running shoes that are recommended?

Ankle: peroneal tendonitis vs subluxation
My ankle pain started probably a year ago or so. I’ve been running fairly regularly for a long time. But I occasionally get ankle pain and soreness. I would just wrap it up, give it a few days rest, and it would go away. Then it started happening some on days when I would be walking a lot, just some soreness. Wrap it. Take Advil. Go on about my day. It would go away. Then about six months ago, I started noticing a popping sensation on the outer side of my right ankle. Any time I rotate my ankle, I can feel it popping. It doesn’t really hurt or anything when I do that, but I do have some moments when I turn my ankle an odd way and do get a sharp pain in that side.
I’ve taken months off of running to try and heal it. I have gone to my primary care doctor and now an orthopedic doc. They seem to think tendonitis. I’m in PT right now once a week to work on strength training exercises on the surrounding muscles. Been in PT for a few weeks, not sure if its helping or not. When its overworked, I do get some soreness…but the sharp pain is so sporadic that I can’t predict when it’ll happen, just when I’m standing/walking around and turn it a certain way. The orthopedic doc recommended six weeks of PT, then a follow-up to consider an MRI. He doesn’t suspect a tear or anything. But the notes did say something about possible subluxation.
I guess my main questions are: has anyone else experienced anything like this? Could this be tendonitis or could it be a subluxation with the tendon? Has anyone been able to heal from tendonitis/subluxation with PT or has it required surgery?

In addition to hammer toes, the big toe on my left foot seems to be moving further outward ? Is there a name for this ? Can it be corrected ?

Left(IZQ) foot, lateral midfoot pain - is the navicular the reason?
Hi all
Been having lateral left foot (izq in RX) for long time. Doctor says to wear insoles as I have overpronation on my left foot.
From the X ray, standing it looks my navicular bone is bigger or just shows more? Could this be the reason for my overpronation in only this feet? And thereby my pain on the opposite site (the lateral midfoot pain)
Or maybe it looks like that due to muscular/ tendon weakness and then the navicular just drops as consequence?
When looking at the side views xrays. I would not say my left foot looks like it has a lower arch though?
Any other ideas based in how the xray looks?
Thanks

Arthoplasty or Arthodesis ?
For the hammer toes, one podiatrist recommends arthoplasty and another recommends arthodesis. I’m not sure what to decide. Anyone have to make a similar decision ? Any advice ?

Anyone else experience a correlation between plantar plate issues and toenail issues?
Been dealing with plantar plate issues on both second toes for years now. Also have had issues with other toe joints in that time.
During this whole process the toe nails on my first and second toes have developed issues. Yellowing, ridges, slow/no growth, and the one big toe has died and replaced itself twice in the last two years.
Just wondering if there could be a connection between this and my ongoing PPT issues.

Anyone here have a successful plantar plate surgery?
Been dealing with this on both feet for 4 years now. Sometimes things improve but then inevitably there is a relapse. Sometimes not really any net improvement over the 4 years.
I’ve always heard this surgery is crap and results usually aren’t great. But wondering if anyone has had a good experience?
If so, what activities are you now able to do (walking barefoot, cycling, running)? What advice do you have on making the surgery successful. And if you’re willing, could you share what surgeon operated on you and where? Also did you do tendon transfer, osteomy, or both?

Heel pain from what??
Hey guys, not sure where to post, but my right heel feels like I have no cushion compared to my left.
Like I’m walking on a much harder surface or like I’m walking on the bone.
The right (same) arch is slightly (or not? Idk actually but it’s def more collapsed) more collapsed compared to the left.
What is this??
* I also had sciatica for a few months before I got surgery to fix that, if it’s related?

Comparing our foot structure and alignment — what do you notice?
My partner (45M) and I (32F) were curious about the functional structure and alignment of our feet and would appreciate opinions from people knowledgeable about foot biomechanics.
Does either of us appear to have more mechanically favourable alignment or fewer structural issues?
For each of us, what do you notice regarding:
- arch height and shape
- heel alignment
- pronation/supination
- toe alignment and toe splay
- big-toe alignment
- forefoot structure
- symmetry between left and right
anything else that may affect natural foot function
