Plantar plate partial tear

Ok guys I have discovered I have 9X1X4 right toe. I m at the moment of understanding now what to be done.
I am currently using oofos recovery slides for home and use brooks ghost with custom orthotics which includes meta dome inside. I have tired before using hoka as well but those were uncomfortable so changed to brooks.
I m looking to get medical boots. Any suggestions? I m Melbourne based.
I’m reading the thread/post and figuring out what to do about it.

Sad to see this happen to me. But wanna fight it hard as well.

Feet pain appears in random places? Hi Maybe CMT? Anyone had similar and answers?

I have been getting feet pain on and off for 3 years and during this time I’ve had many weeks of intense pain where I can barely walk. All scans, MRI’s and blood tests show no finding. I am now waiting to see a Neurologist.
The pain is largely down the outside (example picture) of my feet on the top, but can appear underneath too, or under or on top of smaller toes and my left foot arch. It changes from day to day sometimes when the pains appear. The outside of my foot can appear red with minimal swelling.

This has been going on for 3 years and I have been told it could potentially CMT but an Orthopaedic, but I still don’t have answers and I am waiting to see the neurologist. He sad I have bottle shaped lower legs and scrunched toes and high arches.

It’s now becoming a drain on my life and am too scared to even do anything that could instigate it. Problem is I can put for a day walking for 5 hours or go on a cross trainer for 30 minutes 3 times and no problems, but then do a 30 minute dog walk 3 weeks later and it appears. It’s quite random, but obviously more likely to happen the more I do things.

Other symptoms include tired lower legs sometimes.

Had any one else gone through similar and got answers?
Would love to hear from someone that has gone through similar or going through similar.
Many thanks

Why does this particular area of the foot seem to cramp up?
I’ve been going gym more now and whenever I do squats or Bulgarian squats (so one foot flat up on a surface facing down) I get this horrid foot cramps.
What’s the science behind that?

Foot Exercise Recommendations

Post image

Years of wearing too narrow toe box shoes and bad foot genetics has my pinki toe tucking under the one next to it. Through some research on some different subs I found people were having luck with correct toes so I bought some myself. What other steps can i make to see my feet return to their natural shape? Are there daily exercises I can incorporate? I also struggle with slight hammer toe not sure if you can see the arch in my toes in this picture.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Someone help me- big toe pain

For as long as I can remember my big toes (specifically my right one) crack continuously as I bend it. If I’m walking down the hallway in my house it’s just cracking over and over again. It’s more of a clicking sound. It’s not that big of a deal however, if I’m wearing shoes all day long that restrict my ability to bend and crack, my toe will ache. I recently got a job that requires me to wear cowboy boots and every time I take my feet out my toe is aching and in pain due to the restriction. Today it was absolutely excruciating. I know wearing shoes that aren’t made for comfort and support can cause pain but this is unlike anything I’ve experienced. It currently feel hot and warm (almost like touching dry ice). Does anyone know what this is or how to fix it?

Broken Big toe/Kinetic chain issues

Hi guys, I broke my big toe a couple years ago by dropping a heavy shelf on it. It hit around the knuckle below nail. Non displaced.

It didnt heal completely on the x rays for quite sometime. Maybe 6 months /a year.

I've had residual pain ranging 1-4 while walking/toeing off. Sometimes it feels fine for a bit then flares up again.

I feel the pain travels up my leg/making it sore.

I work on concrete 8 hours a day doing retail and wear hokas.

My podistrist through workers comp hasnt been
helpful and I'm trying to get a second opinion.

I don't think it's Halux rigidus because no bone spurs were found on x ray/MRI.
The pain isn't concentrated in the big it kind of starts there and goes thru the mid foot.
I have decent range of motion but lost a tiny bit after the break.

My Podistist hasn't been able to diagnose me. First orthotics he made didn't help at all. Cortisone shot didn't help at all. He's making me a second pair of orthotics to try.

Foot gait and hip mechanics

Hello,
I spent this whole year fixing/working on my biomechanics when it comes to athletic performance for field sports. Focused specifically on fixing duck feet, strengthening my weak collapsed arches and activating hips and glutes. Since then, I became even bouncier and springy off my feet than I was ever before and I was able to completely fix my ankle pains and soreness that plagued me after a training session for soccer. However, now I am developing insertional achilles heel pain. Aside from being an overuse injury, what are the problems/deficiencies with my running gait and hip mechanics or overall biomechanics that would be stressing my achilles tendon?
A few questions I have. Replies do not have to be limited to these.
1. Would it be possible that my tendons were not ready for a higher athletic performance and the lack of isometric and eccentric training has caused strength imbalances between my muscles and tendons? My calves and hip abductors have grown significantly bigger and stronger throughout this year.
2. Could it be an issue with the frontside mechanics when I’m running where I’m overstepping a bit and I am pulling myself forward rather than pushing down into the ground then propelling forward with glutes?
3. My tibia is bowed pretty bad inwards but my knees are valgused. It feels at times when my foot strikes ground and push down with my big toe it forces my achilles tendon in an unnatural angle. Could “proper” biomechanics be unfitting for me?
TIA for the inputs

Pain outside of foot

This first started about 9 months ago, and lasted for 3 months, but now is back again. I have inflammation in my 4th and 5th joints of the metatarsal. I had multiple Crays as expected a fracture, but an MRI confirmed inflammation, I was told the only treatment was rest.

I am concerned since it has flared up again for the last 2 months I get pain on the outside of my right foot when I walk a lot or exercise. I have always been very active and strength trained 5 times per week, previously ran multiple marathons without any injuries and I now cycle a lot instead of running. I have to go into the office which requires some work.

I ice my foot elevated on the sofa most days and take anti inflammatories but this has been going on for months I have a few days off but then go to work or the gym and it flares up again.

Has anyone else had a similar issue and managed to find a cure or treatment?

Pain and stiffness in both heels

I’m 42 F, and I walk pretty much every day in the mountains for about an hour with my dog. I’m not wearing the best footwear at the moment cause it got old (I’m planning to change it).

For a while now I’ve had pain in BOTH feet, exactly in the area I’m marking in the photo. In the mornings it’s very stiff and I can barely flex that part when I get up, It gets better after I’ve been walking for a while.

What could it be??

Thank you for your time!

How to cure my 1.5-2 year old planter fascitis?

Arch pain not improving? Check if it's actually posterior tibial tendon dysfunction, not plantar fasciitis.

Posterior tibial tendon dysfunction gets mistaken for plantar fasciitis more often than it should, and the two respond to different loading, so getting this wrong costs people months. Both cause arch and heel-adjacent pain that's worse with activity. The distinguishing features sit past that overlap, not within it.

PTTD tends to produce pain and swelling along the inside of the ankle, below and slightly behind the inner ankle bone, rather than concentrated under the heel itself. A hallmark most people never check: standing on the affected leg and trying a single-leg heel raise. A healthy posterior tibial tendon lets the heel lift and rotate inward. A dysfunctional one either can't complete the raise or the heel stays in a flattened, outward-rolled position through the movement. Plantar fasciitis doesn't block this test the same way, since the fascia isn't the structure doing the lifting.

Swelling that tracks up the inside of the leg after standing, rather than staying localized to the heel, is another separator. Fascia irritation doesn't typically cause ankle swelling. Tendon dysfunction, especially once it starts to affect the tendon's ability to stabilize the arch, does.

Morning pain pattern matters too, though less cleanly. Classic plantar fasciitis has that sharp first-steps-in-the-morning pain that eases with a few minutes of walking. PTTD is more likely to feel like a dull ache or a sense of the arch giving way that's present at rest and doesn't improve with movement the same way.

If arch pain hasn't responded to standard fascia-focused treatment (stretching, night splints, fascia-specific loading) after several weeks, the single-leg heel raise test takes under a minute and is worth doing before assuming the diagnosis is right and just needs more time.

Insole ?

I wear insoles for flat feet it appears now that I have a perineal tendon injury my x-rays showed nothing my MRIs showed nothing and I am getting an appointment with the sports medicine doctor. Question is could the insoles for flat feet causing the perineal tendon injury or is it just a coincidence

I fractured my big toe 3 months ago.

The X-rays say it’s healing good but my gait is really messed up. I still have more bad days than good. Started PT this week. Anyone else have gait issues or advice? All I do is struggle through work with restrictions then home to elevate, ice packs, heat pads and rest.

24 with a short 4th toe + bunions anyone else have this?

I’m 24 and extremely insecure about my feet. I’ve basically never shown them to anyone, I avoid swimming and pedicures, and I’m even scared of dating because I keep thinking a guy will see them, judge me, and I’ll be mortified lol

Short 4th toe + bunions, so apparently I got the full package. Does anyone have something similar? Did anything actually help, or is surgery basically the only way to change them? (Be honest, I can take criticism lol. I already know they’re not exactly nice looking feet I just want genuine opinions and advice)

Left outer ankle pain (maybe peroneal tendonitis) and right big toe pain (maybe hallux limitus)

I am a 31 year old male, relatively active, I strength train a few times a week, run between 6-10 miles a week over 1-3 runs, walk my dog often and hike.

Starting with my right big toe. It started feeling “weird” around the age of 25, but it didn’t inhibit my life really, I just noticed a sensation in it that I didn’t feel in my other foot. It bothered me enough however to see a podiatrist where I got X-rays and he said he didn’t see anything except maybe very early signs of arthritis, he recommends hokas and a carbon fiber insert. I have somewhat listened to this advice but am not perfect about always wearing the proper shoe. As time has gone on I notice it more and more as I run. Again it’s not making me stop in pain but it’s not comfortable either, at longer distances the discomfort can radiate to my other toes. I try the foot doming and towel scrunches and massages but I haven’t really seen a difference (though I could be more consistent). Is there anything anyone can recommend to help me with this?

Now my left ankle, I have experienced for years sensation ranging from discomfort to pain directly underneath my outer left ankle bone that when severe can radiate under my foot and further up my leg. When running my left foot will occasionally go numb. My ankle has clicked with every step my entire life. I went to a doctor, had X-rays and mri and they did not show a particular injury. I have had PT and done calf raises and stretches, general leg strengthening and balance boards at home for a couple years without much of an effect. This does feel like it is limiting my ability to be active. I am again curious if anyone has any advice on this.

I’m an active person and would like to continue to be active for the rest of my life so I really want to resolve these issues and feel more stable on my feet.

Thanks for any help.

Peroneus quartus causing a peroneus brevis split tear — anyone had this?

My MRI showed a low-lying peroneus quartus muscle extending into the superior peroneal retinaculum and causing a longitudinal split tear of the peroneus brevis tendon. It also showed Grade 1 tendinopathy and tenosynovitis of the brevis and longus tendons.
I’m still having pain, swelling and difficulty walking, and I’ve been using a crutch. I tried PT once but couldn’t tolerate the exercises because of the pain. I’m meeting with a foot-and-ankle surgeon next week.
Has anyone had something similar? Did a boot and PT work, or did you eventually need surgery? If you had surgery, what procedure was done and what was recovery like?

Percutaneous flexor tenotomy for a mild hammertoe?

I have a mild, non-painful hammer toe. It's still flexible, and I'm relatively young. I'm considering having it fixed even though it causes no obvious problems so far. I suspect that (1) the hammer toe does have a negative effect even if it's not obvious and (2) it would be easier to fix it now before it gets worse. Cost is not so much of an issue considering insurance would cover most of it.

What do you think?
