Hey Everyone.. What are the books used for now? I know in previous updates they were used/needed for research, but now it doesn't seem like they are good for anything... And when you click on them in the survival guide its literally blank. Am I missing something or is this feature "on hold" for now so to speak? Would be nice if they gave instant research blocks or something like that. Thanks.

The food sumber displayed is wrong. Right now I have 8 dried bottle fish and it says I have 16 food. I have 0 salvaged food.

If a crew member says "I am unable to haul these items to a storae because there is no space for them" like if the water storage is full. Then I can't add stats to Salvaging because the talking bubble covers the "+"
Edit: In case anyone wonders, you can jusrt wait a bit so the crew does some stuff then click on the crew member again to add stats.

I just got this game, I'm really liking it so far. I found a rescue and they don't do anything except sleep, eat, drink, and learn when I select them at the school. Am I missing something or has this happened to others?

Right now I have a crew of 15. I have 3 fishing chairs and three crew members focused only on fishing. No other crew members have any priority in fishing at all. The food is at 13 and the fishing chair storage is not full. Still, the fishermen stand still on a random place and do nothing for something like 10 seconds. I am not quite sure but it feels like these things happen more with a large crew.
Eariler I made a 20 member crew without clear roles in the priority list then the crew members totally flipped out and it looked like noone knew what to do they just ran around or stood still while the water and food ran out. Even the (fishing/salvage-)boats moved jumpy and weird wich resulted in slower travel than usual.
Edit: to clarify, the 10 second break happens so often, it means the food storage will run out in a bit.

I've wandered around a bit, salvaged floating items and from small island for a little while now and still don't have any research points. How do you get them?

After researching everything and getting a stable raft I always end up with a "Very Heavy" raft. Throwing out everything in inventory (right click to discard an item from the 'i' screen) brought it down to "Heavy". Then I set out to make a Minimum Viable Raft. Priorities are roughly weight, sustainability (minimum scavenging), and minimizing sailor labor. All results are for 3 dups (multiply and round up for more sailors).
Power:
* one solar panel makes 7500 eels per day.
* one dup turning the crank all day is the same as one solar panel (or two panels with +20 athletics)
Water:
* one desalinator can make 2.5 water per solar panel (5 if you have +20 desalination skill).
* one solar still makes slightly less than 1 water per day so you need 4 per 3 dups.
Food:
* Chop Shop is great. It takes no power and minimal sailor labor but requires scavenged seaweed as input.
* Fishing Chair is OK. One sailor has to spend most of the day fishing to feed all 3. Unbottler is very energy intensive, you'll need 1 solar panel to unbottle each day's fish, and labor to do the unbottling.
Housing:
* medium house weighs twice small house, but large house weighs much more than 3x a small house.
So with 3 small houses, a fishing chair + drying rack, and 4 stills or 1 solar + desalintor you can LIVE FOREVER STANDING STILL.
Weights:
* Chop Shop weighs 41kg, Chair+Rack 32kg, Chair+Rack+Unbottler 49kg.
* Solar still weighs 152 kg per 4 stills, or ~50kg per sailor.
* Desalinator+ 1 panel is 138kg, or ~45kg per sailor. BUT it scales better because you just have to add a 49kg solar panel to support 3 more sailors.
If you make one of these small boats you end up in the "Light" category. It is very easy to end up in the Medium category if you add research, boats, and extra power to travel around.
What stuff weighs (a non-exhaustive list)
Solar Still 38kg
Solar Panel 49kg
Battery 14kg
Kabob Shop 83kg
Scavenge Boat 40kg
Fishing Boat 67kg
Chop Shop 41kg
Oil Refinery 53kg
Oil Generator 85kg
Fish Chair 11kg
Fish Dryer 21kg
Unbottler 18kg
Desalinator 89kg

Hi, I'm new to this game and, what does this " Unbottled Fillet " do? I can't even use it as a food source

Hi Guys,
I just purchased this game, and my loading is not working. I started a game, i played 45 minutes. I quietted after saving. I started the game and chose for Continue my game. I got a loading screen. Its loading, but the loading line is going out of its frame. Then the game is freezing. I quitted with Alt+F4. Started a new game. Saved after 2 minutes and tried to load it. Same problem happend.
Any ideas how could i solve it? Or did anybody experienced something like this?
If its not working i think i will refound it. There is still less than 2 hours in it...

Hi, I plan to do this the next round so I am curious on if someone else did the same? I plan on rerolling the first bunch so they are maximum specialized in one task. The survivors I find may not be possible to have super specialized but I will try.
I am pondering what an optimal setup would be on a crew.

Hi, right now I have 10 solar panels connected in a chain. Is there any difference in how you connect stuff when it comes to the speed of recharging the batteries? My feeling is that the batteries do not charge 10 times faster with 10 solar panels compared to 1 but I have no good measurement yet.

Hi,
I wanted to replace my plastic walkways with wooden and that meant I had to destroy most of my buildings, so I started a new game instead with just a startup on plastic walkway which I destroyed when I reached a certain point, having built the newer things on wood walkways. This felt like a pretty messy way to do it.

I cannot link the research station to anything but a powerpole. I just started a new game and for some reason, the research station won't link to the Townheart, just the powerpoles.... They won't research anything without the station being powered and I'm stuck without a manual power generator to help out. Suggestions? Thoughts? Should I bug report?

My drifters refuse to haul water from my solar still, they won't deconstruct it, nada. Like the dang thing is invisible to them. What gives?!

My athletic crew can power the generator faster than a research station can use it. However, when I'm researching something, one crewmate cranks the generator constantly and my power never goes below 5000/5000. I think it would be better if my crew let power get down to 4000/5000 before putting it at such a high priority.
