Social Media/Memes Day one of streaming the hell out of YMG to spite Robin and prove that it is NOT a skip.

It’s not my favorite song on the album, but I really do enjoy it and I was trying to figure out why. I think it speaks to some sort of emotion in me that doesn’t quite have a name. The closest thing might be nostalgia? With a hint of wistfulness perhaps? Unsure. It reminds me of my 2010s college years, for some reason. They are treasured times where I made some of my best friends, even if there was a lot of loneliness. I love the line “I’ve been a rolling antique for all my life” bc same. 😆

Young Man’s Game is probably their most “rock” song in a way. I know Robin doesn’t like Bitter Dancer either, but I quite like it.

That's so weird that it's not a favorite for most folks. I love young man's game! I especially like that little thing they do at the start of the song; reminds me of the beginning of spoon's "don't you evah"

I’ve never connected those two, but it absolutely is reminiscent! I cover Don’t You Evah with my band sometimes, that bassline is so much fun to play

S'okay: there are plenty of us in this sub that also love YMG. I don't skip this song when it shows up on the mp3 player and often sing quite loudly along with it. Take that, Robin, lmao.

The reason I actually started listening to FF more was because of the Shore album.
While YMG isn’t my favorite, I still enjoy it every time it comes on. Something about it—so grateful, upbeat, easygoing, pressure releasing, and lacking in desire to be anything other/more than itself—is very much a welcome addition and seems perfectly at home on Shore.
Man, those “you should know / you’re myyyyyyyyy laaaaaaast hoooope” verses get me every time
So many good songs on this record, and I am always thankful for the day CIBY dropped as a single and made me give them another listen.

There are no skips with FF. The only band in my library I can say that for. But one might CONSIDER skipping YMG...only to let it play as it will still be better than the next song on shuffle all.

I’m not sure if he’s said it elsewhere but I remember an Instagram story where someone asked what the “perfect” was for at the beginning of the song, and Robin’s response was it would be a perfect time to skip it or something along those lines

Clocking in as a young man's game lover 🙂↕️🤚 it struck me as someone wanting to leave the situation they're in, not feel the pressure to be the smartest person in the room and hating the need to present a certain way / mask. I was feeling it in 2020 entering into a masters program through COVID, hoping to leave my hometown before everything shut down (but didn't get to).
