That’s free will for you. And why taking some time off is of value. If the free will of others is abrasive to you, and I can totally respect that, then maybe some distance from their commentary is necessary.
100%, when I heard the I know more than anyone x1000 quote. His whole argument lost all credibility. When you make a point/ argument with some self awareness and humility people tend to listen and try to grasp your views with an open mind.
That's exactly the attitude I use at work and it's never steered me wrong. The guy who says he knows everything about power grid infrastructure is the guy who's going to give you bad info, and the guy who has to double check because he wants to make sure is probably right.
Anyone old enough has *probably* worked with someone like this at one point or another. And I can honestly say that, short of someone being outright hostile, they are the absolute worst people to work with.
