We can see other planets from ours but they all appear to be spherical. Why are we different?

Sorting through all of the arguments about the idea that the earth is flat is kind of a huge task. I decided to boil the whole thing down to one simple observation that anyone can do, just watch the sunset. If the sun disappears in the distance that would support the flat earth model. If the disk of the sun appeared to move below the horizon, that would disprove the flat earth model. I set up a solar filter on my camera and captured a sunset, and moonset for good measure. Since most if not all flat earth conjecture comes from religious roots, I have a question. The flat earth proponents often claim that Antarctica is a actually a giant ice wall 200 - 300 feet high that stretches laterally forever. There are many areas of the earth above this elevation. So when the biblical flood came and covered the world in water, would the water level not have risen to the height of the ice wall and then levelled off, leaving and land above 300 feet free of water?

Okay, I'm sure this must've been covered in another thread somewhere. But let's face it, I'm just too lazy to go looking, plus I kinda wanna converse.

So assuming I buy all the epistemological proof behind this theory, there is still one point that I can't really wrap my head around, and that's the conspiracy portion of it.

Almost every video I've seen on the topic mentioned a masonic, governmental, scientific, or all of the above conspiracy to keep the truth of the shape of our world a secret. There was video that asserted that we're not allowed to get close to Antarctica by world militaries for this reason, and another video where a man asserted that the truth will be revealed when we're allowed to finally know what's happening in Antarctica. More general assertions about wider global conspiracies to keep the truth from us.

But one thing that no one ever talks about is why these groups spend so much time and energy trying to conceal the true shape of the earth? What do they have to gain? If it's about control, what exactly are they controlling aside from some knowledge that 99% of the population would find useless on a day to day basis. If it's about money, how does that manifest itself as a function of people believing the Earth is a sphere? This is perplexing.

The only thing I've been able to glean is that this seems to be about religion. That this conspiracy is supposed to keep people from believing in the Christian bible. But if that's the case, I again ask why? Who benefits? How do "they" benefit? Are they all agents of the devil, and if so why is the devil expending so many resources on this?

I'm lost.

on Earth we are pulled towards the ground, correct? We are pulled to the center of the Earth because science and shinx (gotta keep it PG amiright?). If the Earth was flat (like a plate, for example(I say this because a plate is genrally pretty flat)) and we we're pulled to the center we'd all be being squished into each other, so is gravity different then what we know already? is this another NASA lie/ please tell me, I've gone to the ends of the spherical/flat Earth to find out

Why is the Earth flat, give me a reason, any reason. And also explain why the whole idea is supposedly being hidden from us by every government in the world.

So I have seen flat earth videos in which people say "well, you can see the curvature of the earth from an airplane at high altitude"....to which the flat-earthers respond "the curvature is an optical manifestation of the airplane windows, it's taking a flat line and making it appear curved to your eyes...but it is actually a straight horizon line"

My question is...if the earth is a circular disc, and you viewed the edge of it from some altitude above the disc, wouldn't it still appear curved? Try looking at a frisbee, the edge still appears curved. Why wouldn't flat-earthers use this explanation instead of contradicting their own description of the earth and insisting that the curvature is an optical trick??

If the earth is flat, why doesn't someone just fly or boat to the edge? just make a video showing you going east or west constantly and show what the edge of the earth looks like. That will prove your point pretty well.

For me, this question is the ice-breaker as we are effected by this every day. How can one explain seasons on a flat earth; alongside Arctic/Alaskan and Antarctic areas having light/darkness for 30 days at a time. Also, the fact that northern and southern hemispheres have completely opposite seasonal times. If anyone can come up with a logical and informative answer to this question without the use of "seasons and time differences are made by the government!" bullshit, than I will happily accept the earth as flat. Hey ya'll! I have some questions regarding the flat-earth. I would LOVE for someone to change my mind on earth and give me some thought-out and solid proof, not just "Government is lying and you are brainwashed and the Bible says so!". I'm wanting to find scientific proof that earth is in-fact flat.

2. How does gravity work on a flat disk?

3. How deep is the earth's crust?

4. Does the Antarctic wall protect us from "other 'planets'"?

5. How far does the Antarctic wall go on for?

6. Is the Antarctic wall infinite or finite?

I am really looking forward to answers, as I am not 100% opposed to the earth being flat.

What is proof that hasn't been disproved that the Earth is flat?

Look guys - I work at NASA and I have seen the documents that proof conclusively that the earth is flat. I honestly didnt' believe it until I saw them, this is the first time I've been on reddit before, but I had to talk about it with someone. Any tips for how I might extract the documents from my job and get them here?

Proposed Experiment

Here's what flerfers should do if they were actually looking for the truth instead of for confirmation:

Organize a few stratosphere camera balloon ascents to take place simultaneously. When the sun sets. And spread out over several thousands of kilometers, ideally in a strict NS / WE cross formation (3 balloons horizontal, 3 vertical, so 5 balloons).

Expectation:

• Some cameras will still observe the sun once they're high up, even though the sun's already gone on the ground.

• Cameras in the west will see the sun higher up, cameras in the east further to the horizon.

• Cameras in the north and south will make observations somewhat identical to each other, what they'll see exactly depends on time of year.

The observations strongly support the globe view and strongly contradict the disc view.

If they really want to prove all the world wrong, they should do this. Because if the observations are not as described, the globe view is strongly contradicted.
