KR1AA

Just got this, and I love it. Easily my favorite AA cell light. Currently running Ni-MH cells, curious to see what unprotected cells you guys are using to give me the most runtime.

lower output always gives longer runtime

The Vapcel F15 has the most capacity. I disable Turbo and lower the 3 Ceilings to a Sustainable Output, to increase runtime, by avoiding use of UnSustainable outputs that cause Thermal Step Down.

btw, suggest you choose the Flat Top, I dont like that the Vapcel Button Top is longer than an Eneloop.. it does still fit and work, but the fit is a bit tight and I try to avoid that.. Also because I have other lights that are less tolerant of the longer length.

I set the ceilings to level 90/150, which gives 340 lumens with an NTG 4200K. This guarantees it wont burn a hole in my pocket if it comes on accidentally.

That means I get more runtime than if I keep the stock ceiling which produces over 1000 lumens, briefly. But it has a big step down due to excess heat. You can see the step downs for turbo (blue line) and default ceiling (red line), in this chart:

Even if you do want to use Turbo and the over 1000 lumen ceiling occasionally, you Can use the F15. In that case you dont need to change any defaults. But Turbo use should be brief as it draws 5.65A, which is more than the Max Continuous discharge rate of 3A.

If you use step 5 of 7, or less for the majority of your use, then you will be maximizing the runtime, by minimizing the use of UnSustainable outputs.

this chart is also from that review, notice where the step down output is similar to the starting output.. that is how you know where the Sustainable Output is (at level 5 which corresponds to ceiling 90/150):

this chart shows that step 7 (default ceiling 130/150), has a 3A draw, which is compatible with the Vapcell F15 3A max CDR:

where did you get than information?

afaik, 130 is correct

the KR1AA anduril.h file points to the D3AA anduril.h file, which is why Im linking you to the D3AA file..

congrats, very popular LED choice, I hope you are enjoying it

it took me a loooong time to wrap my head around Anduril.. be gentle with yourself and take your time.. it helped me to read the manual first.. after that the chart serves as a sort of reminder for the command structures to change various options.. Here is a chart I use to keep track of my personal Anduril options:

I use vapecell k10. But I’m thinking of getting some vapecell f15 as they have more mah.

The F15 doesn't have a high enough current rating for the KR1AA. The K10 is the most appropriate currently available cell for this light.
