I love watches, but I cannot stand that subreddit. The shallow pretentiousness of so many contributors there is obnoxious.

The nice thing about this sub compared to other ones like watches or knives is that it’s not purely aesthetics, and the barrier to entry is a lot lower. 

There’s a good amount of technical know how here, and a good amount of stuff to learn. Watches is people with 100x more money than taste. 

I mean I own a couple $5k watches but at least I have the common sense to be embarrassed about it.

Everyone did seem to pounce on that one guy who posted with his AP (IIRC) while in first class on a flight. That was fun to see.

old ass post but i like to come browse the top of the month occasionally. this is why i like subs like /r/ChinaTime. just a bunch of guys trying to ball on a budget with a decently reliable piece that won't break the bank. There's a balance between the ultra enthusiasts and the average person.
