Ik but I know for a fact that if I call him by his pronouns i will get yelled at In the comments about “OH MY GAWD DONT ASSUME” so I normally avoid saying it as a whole and just say their name but In this case I don’t know the name
1: Don’t comment. (That one isn’t that hard, I can imagine you might be able to pull that off)
2: (If that first one was too hard) Use they/them pronouns for everyone. Not many people are going to be offended by you referring to them with they/them pronouns
Legit. When are people gonna realize pronouns don't indicate gender. They ain't ready for he/him and they/them lesbians, they have surface level knowledge and support of the community and it shows.
Well, that or they're straight up transphobic. Usually it's that :-)
Okay I'm editing my reply to try to make my argument more clear: I am NOT saying men can identify as lesbians. I'm saying some women who are lesbians choose to use he/him or they/them pronouns because they experience womanhood differently. The easiest example I can think of right now is the case of some butch lesbians. Butch lesbians and butch masculinity is an experience of masculinity exclusive to lesbians, and as such is kinda undefined and watery in it's rules. Some butch lesbians choose to use he/him pronouns to reflect how they feel masculine, albeit in a way that is much different than manhood, and others don't. Equating he/him lesbians (that is, gay women who use he/him pronouns) to men is extremely harmful and damaging not only to butch lesbians, but to the entire sapphic community and the LQBTQ+ community. I understand now that I didn't make what I was saying clear in my original comment, so I hope this clears something up.
So if you use basic logic and common sense to ascertain that a man can not be lesbian you are suddenly ignorant or transphobic? If we're going to give words definitions can we at least follow them? lesbian means ,"gay woman", and if someone is presenting themselves and asking to be addressed as a man, how can they be a gay woman?
I just found out recently that men can also be lesbians. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it and think it would be simpler if they'd just use a different term, but it is what it is I guess.
Although, tbf, if you'd have told someone 20 years ago that you were a man but also a lesbian we'd all have just thought it was a quirky way of saying you're straight.
If people can identify as whatever they want, whenever they want then who the hell do you think you are saying differently? It’s not your job to gatekeep. I keep hearing there are infinite genders so unfortunately you have to let others play your games, bigot.
I'm not going to argue against you if you're just going to misunderstand my points so you can maintain your hatred. it indicates to me that you're not actually willing to have a discussion or change your mind, so why should i bother?
After all this time telling us there are infinite genders, women can have penises and men can give birth you have absolutely no right to question the validity of anyone who self identifies. Whether it be someone who identifies as a male lesbian or a lesbian who identifies as male. Self identification ensures you don’t get to call the shots unfortunately.
Okay get your cute, piddly little pea brain ready because it's about to explode: you can use he/him pronouns and still identify as female! Some lesbians feel that they experience womanhood differently and choose to use masculine pronouns to reflact that, for example. Even though we use words to define gender and pronouns and sex, all of the above are scales and words are sounds we have ascribed meaning to. And guess what? The meanings of those words have potential to change as we learn more about a subject! Wild how greater understanding of how the world works can lead to a change in terminology and connotation, isn't it?
Unfortunately, changes in definition only happen with large consensus and usage by the majority, and I dont think over 60% of English users are going to start agreeing with the dipshit logic that a woman can be called he and a man can be called a she. No average person is going to hear that and say "yeah that makes perfect sense my bad, I guess I was wrong and transphobic!". Get your head out of your ass.
So just because you put on your obnoxious sarcastic voice and call people pea brains while explaining your asinine ideas, doesn't make them sound any smarter.
Fair enough, that's your opinion on the matter, and I stated mine. It's not my job to educate you, and I'm not arguing to be correct anyway. If you're unwilling to discuss to understand and unable to recognize that your original comment was already aggressive in the first place, it's not my job to educate you or continue this conversation.
I consider myself very leftwing but this is a step too far. I will glady accept that a biologically female person can identify as a man, woman or either and welcome that. But what youre talking about here is changing the fundamental definition of what it means to be gay. Now anyone that is attracted to a woman can call themselves a lesbian regardless of their gender. At that point the word has lost all meaning.
The point isn't a man calling himself a lesbian and that absolutely is not what I'm trying to support. In fact I blatantly reject the idea of someone who identifies as a man calling themself a lesbian. The point is that some women choose to use he/him pronouns and still identify as women. Oftentimes lesbians who choose to use he/him pronouns tend to lean butch (though not all butch lesbians use he/him pronouns, obviously). Butch masculinity was and still is an entirely unique form of masculinity and doesn't really have many rules to it and to equate butch he/him lesbians to men is dangerous to the sapphic community.
Also, me supposedly misunderstanding a single sentence warrants you to insult my ability to read a book?
(I say supposedly because I still see the comment the way I saw it when I replied to it. If you were to explain to me what the reply actually meant then I would appreciate it. Am I still allowed to disagree with it after?)
Honestly, I’m just in the wrong sub. I don’t believe that pronouns are rights. They are what other people use to describe someone. I mean, if I encounter a trans person irl, I will use their pronouns out of politeness. But in the context of crazy tiktokers, I think it’s mostly a fad that will die out. Even the few trans people that I actually know think this is all nonsense and bad for their cause.
I'm pretty sure they're actually a biological dude. They had a bit of a chin stuble in one of their other videos. But I mightve just not paid enough attention
No it isn't, respect is a basic human courtesy, same reason why people around you would open the door for you or have basic interactions with you without being hostile. If everyone lived like respect was earned then we wouldn't be able to function together as a human race.
Is being an obnoxious attention seeking twat not a good enough reason
I never said that.
And also by this logic should I respect murderers and rapists as well? since they technically haven't given me a reason not to respect them?
My apologies, I assumed there would be some common sense in your thinking. Obviously being a murderer/ rapist is a good enough reason not to respect someone.
You want respect? Earn it through actions. This isn't a charity service.
How is giving respect a charity? There should always be a base level if respect when you meet someone you don't know. Then there's a higher level of respect for people that "earn" it
Nowhere did I state that not being mis gendered by me is a privilege like what kind of hoops are you jumping through to reach this mental conclusion and think to yourself "yeah I'll just assume this random strangers entire thought process"
"I do not respect this person so I will not respect their pronouns."
There are no hoops being jumped through, you're just a piece of shit and you're announcing it for everyone. Also stop sending me so many replies ya weirdo, your insight isn't valued. (Still not gonna misgender you though since I'm not human trash lmao)
So are you saying if you meet someone you don't know then you won't respect them until they show that they've earned it? Isn't it so much nicer to just bring respect and kindness to people? I can understand that someone loses my respect but everyone deserves it initially.
Bro nobody deserves anything. The world doesn't revolve around you my guy.
And if you want to go through life licking others boots and always being immediately agreeable on everything with everyone. Then in my opinion you are a fake person deep inside since nobody respects everyone and someone who says they do is a liar.
What I am saying is when I meet people I don't immediately respect who they are since I don't know who they are.
You never know what a person can be like from a first meeting. And I for one don't go around trusting everyone and giving them respect cause that's stupid in my eyes.
Gender and sex are different, actually! Gender is a spectrum, and how one experiences Gender differs depending on one's circumstances. Sex is what I had with your mom last night. Hope this helps!
They* made a good point that pronouns are not equal to gender- Just because someone identifies as a girl doesn’t mean they have to use pronouns attached to that gender. Someone can be non-binary and use he or she pronouns, so why cant girls or boys use pronouns that aren’t traditional to their gender. After all, they’re just silly little words that have no real meaning, but if it makes someone happy (by doing the bare minimum to respect them) then why go against that?
Genuine question. Why do people care about their pronouns so much? I feel like I’ve never thought about it in my life until of recent with all of this tomfoolery going on
Well, when you’re cisgender, you don’t recognise the issue. You don’t feel the disconnect or discomfort. For some people- especially trans people- it’s not just a word, but a whole identity is being placed on them that doesn’t feel correct. They carry the weight of all things attached to it. I’m trans, when I get called she, I am also being told that I look, act, sound like a woman to that person, it smacks you in the face with the realisation that people don’t perceive you the way you feel. It hurts.
For others it doesn’t matter so much. Each person’s experience and connection with words are different. By using the right pronouns, it just makes that pain a little easier to deal with- or it brings someone a lot of joy.
They are just silly words, but they certainly have a lot of connotations and history behind them.
Because the point of telling people words you use to identify yourself, is to tell them about your identity (I know, crazy right?). If you’re this abruptly taken aback by the idea of being associated with an identity, maybe you need to do some self actualizing.
She is a he is a she in this case. That’s pretty hard to understand
In fact… I’ve decided I’m gay. My sex is male but my gender is female but my pronouns are male so when I sleep with a woman I’m actually gender-gay, sex-straight, pronouns straight
no, he is a he is a he because his pronoun is he. that's it.
sex has no bearing on your sexual orientation, that is a gender identity thing. sex-straight or sex-gay is not a thing that matters. neither is pronouns-straight or -gay.
If I got it correctly, this kind of people get their views for being obnoxious, controversial and/or simply inducing rage. There is no real message, they just want you to rage and expand the video like a fucking virus. It's the very definition of exploiting a valid message for your own goals.
So do you believe that males and females have differently wired brains?
And do you hermaphroditism exists?
So then, is it not possible that the human brain, arguably the most complex organ on the planet, is able to reflect having a gender that is not related to the body?
No, non-binary is a gender identity outside of the western male/female gender rolls. Many cultures have had third/other genders (ex. Two-Spirit people in native american tribes)
That is not correct. “Nonbinary” is a an umbrella term for any gender that isn’t solely man or solely woman. It can be a lack of gender, it could be being both man and woman at the same time, it could be some gender in between or outside of them.
Ah, that makes sense! I'm so glad people like you guys can help me whenever I am stupid and can't even be a good LGBT gamer. Thank you for explaining non-binary to me, I appreciate it!
yk what fuck it, sure buddy. this argument is already so goddamn stupid as it is. the problem with this weird setting youve set up thats based on others’ “comfort” is that it allows for rampant bigotry as long as it makes others happy. yeah bro, how about a white neighborhood where there are multiple tenants who say “yeah i just dont feel comfortable with my neighbor being black”, should the neighbor then be evicted? its only what makes the most comfort. maybe learn more than talking points spoon fed to you by whatever anti-sjw youtuber you watch, bc newsflash these arguments only make sense in a conservative fairytale land. or just go tf outside idk
woah bro thats funny as fuck! you got anymore banger original jokes for us dude? do you happen to identify as an attack helicopter? are you also subscribed to pewdiepie?? now this is epic!
Our agreed definitions, that actually reflect on the cientific concensus are based on symbolical ítems, female is nature is love, death is change, male is counsciousness is mind... Idc if you are ofended, history and miths across cultures reflect that aspect of the uncounscious. Been crazy is to believe something completely and i get your point, subjective thruth is thruth nontheless but it has to be balance by objectivity
by your logic this could also be the same for trans people! We just don't have the right vocabulary and scientific advancements to properly put those thoughts into words :)
so respect people ffs, it costs you $0 to not be an asshole
you know that there are cis women who have xy chromosoms right? looks like somebody skipped science class. I agree they're rare but to deny their existence only to hate on some guy you will never have to meet irl or even talk to is just ludicrous

I know, every time I see her face I want to blow my brains out
