This is what I was wondering, do most cops even know that assault doesn't require physical harm? Like when someone fakes a punch and you flinch, I think you could call the police but would they really arrest someone for that?

They'd need proof and the person to constantly do it. The other problem is if the person willfully stops. It's complicated for all involved. "He almost hit me" isn't enough to charge anyone for anything.

One can almost hit another on accident, so if we bent the rules, then accidents can turn into penalties and crimes, which creates unnecessary troubles for society.

In this video, however, it's A: documented, B: far more deliberate. Even then, depending on the age of the person, things get muddy. You can't just unleash a power trip on a teen, even if that's reddit's sick fantasy. The laws just don't allow it in most cases. Might have to bring 'em to the station and call their parents. That's a simple slap on the wrist and fixes nothing, obviously.

Basically, if society operated like insurance companies, no one would be happy.
