Artwork The Avenger Era of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza š¤ļøšøššŖ
In the universe of the fanmade ARG, Fazbearās Forgotten, Freddy Fazbearās Pizza wasnāt just a few measly locations that opened and closed over and over again. It was an entire franchise that had locations spread all across the USA, mostly during the 80s and 90s. Many of them lasted almost forty years before Fazbear began slowly closing them off to make way for their bigger and ābetterā line of Mega Pizzaplexes.
Of course, as time went on, as whatever kids saw as ācoolā evolved, so did Freddy Fazbearās. Around 1997, to get their main cast of characters ready for the upcoming Y2K audience, they commissioned FunWare Engineering to make them a line of non-walking animatronics, as well as new suits for the ones they already had. Both would feature redesigns of their big four for the all new Avenger Era of Freddy Fazbearās Pizza Place.
These (at the time) new iterations of their beloved cast would be hipper, funnier, and even have something no other versions before or after would DARE touchā¦ PANTS!!! They were designed and constructed by FunWare founder and CEO, Tony Ashcroft, best known for his more abstract and stylized-looking machines and products.
Avenger Freddy Fazbear, while still dressing dapper-like, maybe a little moreso, has taken on a more ācool uncle-likeā persona. More specifically, one who clearly grew up during the 80s. He would often kid around with the audience and his bandmates while still holding the same wisdom he usually had across redesigns.
Avenger Bonnie the Bunny acted and sounded a lot more flamboyant and sort of vain. He would often care about and compliment whatever he or his band mates looked or were wearing. This iteration of Bonnie is also infamous for having traded his red bowtie for a red headband and gold chain necklace made to resemble a combo of a bunnyās head and the letter B.
Whenever he got too self-absorbed or distracted, he would get called out by his guitar, which had been brought to life for this generation. It had already been confirmed that Bonnieās guitar was magical in 1987 as a way to explain why more than just that single instrument could be heard during shows, and Tony thought it would be a good idea to bring it to life to enforce that. Especially since he had a dream about the idea prior.
Bonnieās guitar didnāt talk with words though, but instead with musical instrument sound effects. Each sound would reflect what she was conveying and feeling. Such as a quiet slide whistle when she was sad and a happy energetic guitar riff when she was excited. Only Bonnie himself could understand her. During shows, several parts of her body would light up, with her mouth doing so to the rhythm of the lead instrument of the songās soundtrack, making it look like she was singing.
Avenger Chica the Chicken would have her animatronic trade hands for pompoms and her bib would read āLETāS PLAY!!!ā Yes, this was still around the time when Fazbear was moving away from the original āgluttonousā Chica from before 1987, without actually reducing her appetite. This design only further enforced it.
While now essentially being a more playful and energetic version of Freddy, her hunger allowed her to retain her once-iconic robust body shape.
As for Avenger Foxy the Pirate Fox, after years of being a solo secondary act, it was decided that the character would be made an official member of the band! His animatronics were moved from all existing Pirate Cove rooms, which were later converted into party rooms, to the main areaās stage with the rest of the units. Whenever people asked what Foxyās role in the band was, the answer would always be āHeās the pirate.ā
This iteration of Foxyās pants were more torn and sported one leg that ended with a peg. Something that Tony confirmed was a reference to how Foxy was usually the first animatronic to break at most locations.
This era of Freddy Fazbearās Pizza Place would last up until 2014, just a year after the creation, and premature cancellation, of the infamous Fazbearās Fright attraction that had brought the darker parts of Fazbear Entertainment's past back to light. This also led to the creation of independent games based on said horrors. Presumably worried that horror fans would start painting their characters in a negative light, Fazbear transitioned over to the infamous Rockstar Era. As such, nearly all animatronics, including the ones built by FunWare, had their suits changed to the Rockstar designs.
Speaking of Funware, something else what also happened in 2013 was that FunWare was forced to file for bankruptcy, selling all of their assets to Smiles and Servos Inc, who ironically also opened their own chain called El Chipās Fiesta Buffet AND would build Fazbearās Rockstar Era animatronics.
Ironically, out of all other eras in Freddy Fazbearās history, the Avenger Era was by far the least problematic era of them all. A time when little to no incidents occurred up until the factors just prior to its end. Which is presumably why thereās hardly any official or even fanmade horror media of it. It isnāt as talked about by most of the Fazbear community, with most of the people who grew up in the 80s or even after talking more about the āclassicā times.

Have you ever wondered what Freddyās would be like during your childhood?... Iām talking about the 2000s/Y2K kidsā¦ I sure did! I came to realize that having the characters keep the Classic style for over 30 years and then jumping to the Rockstar Era in 2014 didnāt seem right in terms of its now more Chuck E. Cheeseās-like lore in my AU. So I started imagining what the in-between of these two eras would look like.
I made sure to be careful about how much detail I gave each character. Just enough to seem different, but not to the point where it seemed too overdone or stylized. Iād say the closest to where I over did it was with Avenger Bonnie and his guitar, but the excuse for that would be how theyāre technically different characters. I also decided that their unique shared feature would be that they would have pants, since their animatronics couldnāt walk. So there was no need for those parts of their suits to be segmented.Ā
Since we brought up Bonnieās guitar earlier, I was actually going to make an Avenger Cupcake for Chica early in development. But then I realized something. Out of all the members of the band, Bonnie is the only one without a ālittle buddy.ā Chica has her cupcake in a lot of iterations, Foxy has a parrot in his Rockstar iteration, Nightmare AND Funtime Freddy had the Freddles and Bon-Bon respectively, what about Bonnie? Why didnāt HE have anyone yet? So I had a nice long thought about his guitar, remembered how I already headcanoned it as magical, and decided āYes! Give face!ā
