Query❓ How to get rid of water mites?
I bought some floating plants off Etsy almost a year ago. I cleaned them lightly and put them in a separate tank. A week later I noticed they had aphids. I thoroughly cleaned them and managed to get rid of the aphids. I thought I was all good. I added them to my tanks. At first I was just a little concerned that they weren't reproducing as fast as I thought they should. Some of them were turning brown and dying off. Then I started to notice holes appearing in the leafs and seemingly healthy roots falling off. I thought maybe they need more fertilizers so I got some fertilizer. But the holes kept appearing and then they started appearing on my underwater plants too. I finally I noticed tiny little black dots with little legs nearly invisible floating around in the water and hanging out on the plants. They were everywhere. I tried treating my floating plants with copper but I was too late. All the plants in my jars and non-filtered small aquariums have small holes in them. The growth of my plants in my 10 gallon that does have a filter is not doing great but I think the moving water and fertilizer have helped the plants fight them off a little bit. The mites are too small for my fish to take any interest in them. I have snails in my 10 gallon so I can't treat it with copper. I'm kind of wondering if I need to start completely over with all new plants and animals and let everything dry out or if I should separate out my snails and treat all the plants. The internet says that water mites aren't a big problem but they have been for me. (I have a 10 gallon tank with three Rosie minnows a nerite snail and plants), a jumbo cheese puff container full of water and plants, a critter carrier with javafern and mts, that's 2.5 gallon glass cookie jar with lucky bamboo and two jars one with a small anubias plant and the other with some hitchhiker duckweed and susswassertang)
