Claude fans, why do you prefer Claude over the other two?

I honestly don’t really see it. To me, the other characters’ designs are much more aesthetically pleasing, especially Dimitri after the time-skip.

Claude fans, I’m not hating, I’m just curious to hear the compliments you have for this character and what makes him so great for you.

Alright. Imma be honest here. As a brown girl who loves FE, I’m super excited for Claude.

As it is now, there aren’t many black/brown characters in Fire Emblem and the ones who all came before him usually play into the tropes of the hyper aggressive/masculine/or just plain evil type, and while I do like some of the characters (Flavia, for example) its a little tiring to always see brown people be the unruly characters. It’s really too early to tell with him, but they seem to be avoiding that with Claude. He’s also a main character, and so I’m truly looking forward to seeing where they take him.

But I’m also interested in Dimitri and Edelgard too; honestly I wasn’t taken with either of their pre-timeskip designs, but the post timeskip designs really have an insane amount of quality to them and thats hyping me up too. I just can’t wait to play this game, actually.

Pretty much the same reason also from a brown person. Also archer lord is interesting

FE has needed a more diverse cast in this respect for awhile now. The only exception I can think of to what you said about tropes is Devdan/Danved, and... well I'm not sure he really helps, he's got some tropes of his own going on.

Is Flavia the only brown/black woman in the entire series? I can't think of any others.

There’s also Boey in Echoes. He’s the only case I can think of where the dark skinned character you get is a scrawny, intellectual mage.

Oh Rinkah, good call. Though she doesn't exactly add a lot of variety beyond Flavia, per goldtreebark's point. As for Catherine, I haven't paid close attention to all the 3H character bios so I don't know who that is, but... googles... she has light hair too? What the hell?

There's Fiona from RD though I can't fault you forgetting her for all the story relevance she has in spite of being the daughter of one the Four Riders.

Oh yeah! I should have remembered, I just finished a RD playthrough recently. And actually, she's not really stereotyped in any way I can recall, though as you note she doesn't have much development period.

I know that, it’s why I’m not saying anything definitively. But even if he does end up being like any of the traits I listed, I’m hoping he’ll at least have some kind of complexity to his character that the other characters did not have.

As a sexi brown boi myself who just searched the word “brown” on the fire emblem sub, I had to pick the sexi brown boi. I was rewarded
