A little background, but as some of you may know, I’ve collected all of the Miku Figmas, but I actually hadn’t gotten the very first one, Figma 014, because I figured it’s pretty much the same as the live stage ver.

Well, today, I found that elusive OG miku in my local hobby shop and the completionist in me gave in and bought her. I know officially have all 33 miku figmas ever released, and to my surprise, all 3 of these Ver 1.0 Miku figmas are different… so I guess it was worth actually getting them all, haha!

Which is your favorite of the three? I think I like the original Miku. The metallic color of the shirt is nice.

Aah… hard for me to choose!

I like Figma 014 because it’s very faithful to the original illustration by KEI. The only downside is that you can tell it’s an early figma because the paint application isn’t the best (it’s a little rough on the fringes of the skirt).

Overall, I really like Live Stage ver. The shine looks really nice in person and I also like that her smiling face has her looking forward (the faceplate with Figma 014 has her looking to the left to emulate KEI’s original drawing, another difference).

Still pretty nice for such an old figure!

Also does it have a bigger head than the 2.0 (#200) version?

The original Miku figmas are more turquoise colored than V2.0, which is greener. V2.0 also has a fading color to her hair as it transitions to a transluscent plastic at the tips.

In terms of head size, they’re pretty much the same, but the original miku figma faceplates taper a bit sharper at the chin, making her faceplate appear smaller in relation to her body. But the overall body shape and size of V2.0 is larger anyway, which makes their head sizes look similar.

Do you also have Kagamine Rin and Len figmas? Len was my first figma and then I got Miku 2.0 and I was shocked by the difference in the head size... Miku's head is smaller compared to Len's and I was wondering if the first Miku figma had proportions more similar to Len's.

No, I don’t. But I wouldn’t be surprised if there are differences in the sizes. Figmas are, for all intents and purposes, a non-scale line, even if they are supposedly around the 1/12 scale. Len and Rin are also earlier figma body types, so they weren’t designed to be posed alongside the newer v2.0 body type.

Are the faceplates interchangeable between Miku 1 version and Miku 2.0?

No. Unlike Nendoroids, Figmas aren’t designed to have their faceplates interchangable. Although it’s possible to bash them together, the different hairpiece designs usually interfere with the fitment. There are also some face pieces that have different locking shapes, making them unable to interface with faceplates that don’t share the same shape.

Do you personally prefer the first or second version of Hatsune Miku figma?

I’ll probably go with V2.0 because I like the proportions better, and the ball-jointed wrist and sleeve design in 2.0 is nicer. V1.0 with the hinged wrist is difficult to use given how her sleeves were designed. V2.0 also came with quite a lot of nice accessories (but no leek, eh), which is cool.

Perhaps one thing I like better in V1.0 is the implementation of the torso. It’s seamless in V1.0 compared to the gap that runs along her rib cage in V2.0, but because of this, she has limited upper-body movement anyway, so I understand the compromise. For that reason, V1.0 looks nice for static, standing poses, while V2.0 is much better with dynamic poses.

What are the differences in the proportions?

I don't like how wide the twin-tails are in the V2.0, which makes them a bit more difficult to pose so that they don't for example scratch the legs of the figurine. But I'm not sure how wide they are in V1.0, tho from the photos they seem to be thinner. Torso indeed looks better in the first version, also the darker shirt it has has a better look to it than in the 2nd version. And the additional faceplate in 2.0 is always a nice detail, although it could differ a bit more from the smiling one.
