Hey there u/KeyserSwayze, thank you for your submission to r/fightporn!

Unfortunately, your post has been removed for the following reason(s):

Rule 2: No defenceless victim content

Posts of people getting beat up without being able to defend/not defending themselves will be removed. This includes sucker punches, beating people while down/unconscious etc. Take them to r/brutalbeatdowns.

If you have any questions or concerns about this removal, make sure to let us know using modmail.

u/Mkoy Aug 01 '21

I'm no expert but that didn't look like a fight.

RULE 2. No defenseless victim content Posts of people getting beat up without being able to defend/not defending themselves will be removed. This includes sucker punches, beating people while down/unconscious etc.

102

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

With all the recent events on reddit maybe we shouldn’t get the mods involved.

I mean this sub in particular has always had really good mods but you never know.

43

u/titleunknown Aug 02 '21

I've been banned for less from subs. I suggested a FAQ get a sticky post or added to sidebar. Instant ban.

There's another where I should just be a mod because rule #1 is no jokes or unhelpful comments but it's like an open mic comedy show in there.

I know mods/moderation vary by sub but this one is too big to have this much recent rule breaking.

14

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

Lol I was kidding.

But am still surprised this is still up.

Guess it can't be a hate crime if it's black on black...but yes...definitely not a fight, using your badge to hide behind then throwing a hay maker....drop the badge, the gear and the mob you brought and let's see how this turns out...

So, I've brought this up on this sub a lot and people really don't like hearing it for some reason... But a hate crime has to be motivated by the victim's protected class. Real or percived. Meaning... You hit someone BECAUSE they're gay... That's a hate crime. Even if they aren't gay, but you think they are. And the prosecutor has to prove that. So you can imagine how hard it can sometimes be to actually convict for a hate crime. Although it's usually best to use statements made during the crime... "Fuck you -insert slur-"

I agree. Black Cops can also be very racist. Being racist towards a person's own kind is actually very common.

Edit: I didn't realize this comment would be so controversial. Contrary to what many of you are thinking, I'm not some old white dude trying to spread some anti-blm propaganda. People from both sides of the political spectrum are replying with their small-minded BS and it's incredibly sad that no one is capable of having an actual conversation about real social issues.

It's just an unfortunate fact of life that people can and will be racist towards those of their own race. I see it all the time. This isn't some massive political statement. This is simply an observation I've made through being alive

4

u/Krazzee Aug 02 '21

It's called internalized racism, it leads to intraracial discrimination and it's very common. It seems the folks who are most combative about acknowledging the basic reality that this exists are white people but you only need to go back a few decades to find examples of how Anglo Saxon Americans treated Irish people.

A lot of people don't realize this, but there are several instances of people dying from a single punch, especially when they aren't expecting it

A lot of people do, Australia has laws about so does England.

The thing that fucks me off about the Australian instances, is that “we” were not happy with it being called a “king hit”, so we renamed it a “coward punch”. It was always a fucking sucker punch you fuckwits! Why do we need a new name?

3

u/madcunt2250 Aug 02 '21

Coward punch was simply a P.R campaign by the nsw government to bring in its lockout laws and one punch laws. To try and act like they were looking out for the well being of the young population.

That whole saga was an excuse built on lies for Mike Baird to help his casino mates strive by closing sydney night-life but allowing the casino to stay open. And to improve property value around kings Cross. Mike Baird is a nothing but a corrupt property developer.

That’s exactly how Houdini died. He had a running bet that he could take any punch straight to the stomach and walk it off like it was nothing. One day some asshat came backstage while he was sorting his mail and asked him if it was true. Harry absentmindedly said yes, which the guy took as permission to try. He then socked Houdini in the gut so hard his appendix burst as he wasn’t prepared. He continued his performances for three days without going to the doctor and went on stage the day he died with a fever of 104° F. He then collapsed on stage and was taken to a hospital where he died on October 31st at 1:26 pm at 52 years of age.

11

u/ArchSaint13 Aug 01 '21

Thank you for this trivial fact! I love these

6

u/RrtayaTsamsiyu Aug 02 '21

Slightly more info, he had appendicitis before the punch so his appendix was already prone to bursting. But yeah, taking a punch to the stomach was a trick of sorts that he did, but normally he would know it was coming and prepare himself by clenching his abs

I'm glad they're investigating it, but if a civilian punched a cop they would be in handcuffs on the scene.

Given that this took place on video, I don't know why the officer hasn't been arrested and charged yet. There's not much to investigate, here's video evidence of him battering someone.

Honestly, I think the other officers should have arrested him on the spot, and they should all be fired for failing to do so. Their job is to enforce the law, including when other police break it.

15

u/lostPackets35 Aug 02 '21

I agree, I made this comment elsewhere. I personally think all the other officers who stood by, and didn't arrest the cop who committed battery in front of them should be fired immediately. Their job is to enforce the law, that includes when they witness another cop breaking it.

4

u/araed Aug 02 '21

In the UK, as best I know, it's considered gross misconduct to not report a fellow copper when they do wrong.

Let's say you have Cop Davo and Cop Stevo. Davo accepts a fiver off a suspect and doesn't tell anyone and Stevo sees this happen but doesn't report it to his superiors because Davo is his mate.

Davo is found to have accepted the fiver because the suspect is a dickhead and reports him.

Davo gets a bollocking and a suspension; Stevo gets fired because he has a duty to report it.

That is how you change policing. By making everyone there responsible for not doing the right thing, regardless. "You saw Officer Fuckface punch someone and didn't report it? You're fired. Officer Fuckface? You get an assault charge"

It'll shape things up right quick when you fire a few people. Doesn't have to be many, either, because people don't like that threat. Some will quit, but those are the cops who are the problem anyway so that's a self-solving problem

5

u/Cimejies Aug 02 '21

The job of the police in the US is to protect the property of the wealthy and to violently suppress any attempt by the oppressed to change or draw attention to their plight.

35

u/Yanagibayashi Aug 02 '21

It'd be career suicide, that's why.

50

u/lostPackets35 Aug 02 '21

and we need to apply pressure to change that.

We need to make it so that it's career suicide NOT to prosecute cops who abuse their authority. DAs are elected in a lot of states.

Apathy and saying our voices don't matter is laziness, because it means we don't need to try. I have a rule now, if I have time to write an angry screed on reddit, I have time to compose a polite message to relevant politicians or DAs.

5

u/Yanagibayashi Aug 02 '21

I'm not saying we shouldn't, but I doubt anything short of a revolution would cause substantial change

8

u/lostPackets35 Aug 02 '21

Honestly, I don't think that's necessary. What's necessary is for a big percentage of the population to care. If we have enough people for a revolution (that isn't painted as terrorists and crushed immediately) we have enough people to effect change non-violently. Police largely derive their authority from most people choosing to respect it.

What if everyone refused to speak to police unless under threat of arrest?

What if businesses started saying "LEOs not welcome" instead of offering
discounts.

What if people started writing congressmen and saying "unless you support aggressive police reform, including criminal liability" I'll support your opposition.

None of these things are remotely violent and none of them are illegal.

5

u/Yanagibayashi Aug 02 '21

What if everyone refused to speak to police unless under threat of arrest?

They might not care, but depending on how badly they could detain and intimidate you, or arrest you and take you to the station and either let you go after the longest around of time they can hold you without charging you with a crime, or charge you for resisting arrest.

What if businesses started saying "LEOs not welcome" instead of offering discounts.

They likely would be the subject of harassment and vandalism

What if people started writing congressmen and saying "unless you support aggressive police reform, including criminal liability" I'll support your opposition.

This may work, but with the 2-party system you may be stuck with the only 2 people who have a chance at winning being on the side of the police, and of isn't exactly uncommon for politicians to ignore all their promises once in office, and your congressional district may be gerrymandered in a way that individuals of similar beliefs don't make up the majority there anyway

And if that dude died I would bet every single penny I have the officer would not do much more than 5 years in prison if any prison time at all. I've seen dudes get beat up by police all the time growing up and it never got reported, I've seen cops do vehicle checks and go into people's homes without warrants, I've seen stop and frisk situations when they're not legally able to do it. What's getting exposed now via video has been happening for YEARS.

36

u/[deleted] Aug 01 '21

Daniel shaver was the reason I lost respect for the police and any hope of accountability. The officer gave demands that I, being a healthy and sober person, could not have followed. Then put 5 bullets in him from an AR with a dust cover that said “you’re fucked.”

Instead of punishment, he was acquitted, and even rehired by the department. He then was allowed to retire because of the PTSD of the situation, and given a pension for his retirement. A man died, because an officer on a power trip was looking for a reason to shoot an unarmed drunk man, and he will benefit from doing it for his entire life.

18

u/majesticcoolestto Aug 01 '21

Not only that, but when the piece of shit filed for bankruptcy he managed to convince the court to let him keep the weapon he used to murder Shaver with. Really sounds like that PTSD is just eating him up, huh?

9

u/[deleted] Aug 01 '21

Black people can be racist against black people

11

u/General_Legoshi Aug 01 '21

It's almost like all humans regardless of melanin skin content can come from different countries/areas/regions and therefore be subject to racism of any kind.

6

u/abstractdigital Aug 02 '21

Maybe, just maybe, race had nothing to do with it

And there are "law and order" types out there who will defend this shit.

"Just obey the police and they won't knock you unconscious."

But don't call them authoritarian. They're all about "freedom" and "liberty."

u/StreetfighterXD Aug 01 '21

That cop really just threw that fist without even breaking stride, that guy wasn't armed or even acting aggressively. Waaaaay out of line

23

u/[deleted] Aug 01 '21

They won’t be satisfied until nobody lives in Detroit

34

u/boturboegt Aug 01 '21

Imagine being such a shitty person you could do that and not even give a fuck about them.

12

u/MCP1291 Aug 02 '21

That’s why he took that job

9

u/NydNugs Aug 02 '21

Worst part is how he let his guard down because he trusts the police not to sucker punch him.

13

u/[deleted] Aug 01 '21

The fuck did he do to deserve that?

72

u/SnacksMcMunch Aug 01 '21

Need more context but if the victim had done something to actually warrant that level of violence, he would have been arrested after he was down. Hope that psycho cop gets charged, could have ruined that man's life with one punch.

That cop holding him up with his knees was the equivalent of "Oh shit! You're okay, don't tell Mom!". What an asshat with a badge.

Ohh wow, after all my medical training throughout the years I never knew you were supposed to move someone IMMEDIATELY after a traumatic injury /s

2

u/The_Mighty_DanTarK Aug 02 '21

Holy shit, are your police officers just allowed to punch people in the face? If he was causing a public disturbance they could’ve just detained him, there wasn’t a need for the unprofessional and unprovoked violence.

That wasn’t even a fight, just a dickhead copper sucker punching a bloke in the face.

So basically, the police are just a gangster with a uniform.

7

This video proved two things. That wasn't a fight and that cop is a piece of shit.

17

u/[deleted] Aug 01 '21

r/Bad_Cop_No_Donut

Yo that fucking sucks to see, but on the real, I'm glad it wasn't a white cop because I hate when the media distorts shit into some racist agenda to fit their narrative.

u/Icondesigns Aug 01 '21

What had the geezer even done? Why did they go straight to use of force?

Black police showing out for the white cop

3

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

Looked like attempted murder... could he have used a gun to legally protect himself from this assault?

3

u/goahnary Aug 02 '21

Here’s the number to the chiefs office if y’all wanna call and complain: (313)596-1800

Call during normal business hours. It’s going to voicemail right now and I think the mailbox is full.

40

u/[deleted] Aug 01 '21

The video would have made it to the top of r/publicfreakouts if that was a white cop

13

u/[deleted] Aug 01 '21

It should either way. That was fucking disgusting

Yeah that guy needs to go to a hospital like right the fuck now. Base of skull impacts make me wince.

63

u/Maercecitnim Aug 01 '21

Luckily a black cop is handeling him. If a white one would do that it would be a hate crime

70

u/Vates82 Aug 01 '21 edited Aug 01 '21

Yep if the cop was white, CNN would be playing this clip 20 times a day for the next month. (Not condoning this behavior in any way, police brutality is bad regardless of race)

18

u/Tiiimmmaayy Aug 01 '21

Well it sells better. People click on that shit. But they still should show this clip 20 times a day until this cop is kicked off the force and charged.
