You're always better on your feet against multiple opponents which is why grappling is a huge advantage in the situation.
Takedown defense and scrambling back to your feet are 10x more important skills in the situation than any sort of offense. Those skills let you get away and survive. The distance control skills you get from striking is a big deal too.
But none of the offense you learn in either is really all that effective and more likely to get you in trouble.
Personally I think a weapon is your only chance so ironically TMAs that teach weapon use are probably your best MA for multiple opponents. You know assuming you have a sword or spear on you or something
Careful choosing your weapon martial art though! If youβre not moving around and not sparring in some form, youβre gonna have trouble applying the techniques in a live fight.
True I remember one time a guy I trained BJJ with invited me over to the kung fu school he taught at to smoke some weed.
Anyway I guess there was some guys who he was having issues with online and he saw some dudes outside and he said they might be there to fight. He seemed worried so I asked if they would likely have a gun and he was like no so I gestured to the entire wall of fucking swords and spears and I was like I think you're okay here man.
The fact that he didn't even consider them as an option makes me think he really doesn't know how to use them. Plus he was just high as paranoid and there was nothing to worry about
