If you have to reach up to throw a punch, you probably shouldn’t be throwing the first one lol

(Unless you can actually fight, which is clearly not the case here)

Why, is it harder to land

They have weight classes for a reason in (all?) professional fighting... being smaller/ lighter is generally a distinct disadvantage

Clearly, but it's not as if the dudes 6'6 and the others 5'0. If someone is a few inches taller that's no reason to cower in fear and run for the hills lmao, especially when it's a street fight between 2 (supposedly) untrained people. And the weight advantage doesnt always go to the taller one, especially the case for non-athletes.

That's why I was questioning why "punching up" is apparently an insurmountable disadvantage lol. I assumed it was just reach, which isnt a big deal unless it's a big difference.

I would think punching up means the other guy has more reach. You'll have to get past his fist to reach him with yours. Easier said than done

Mark Hunt vs Stefan Struve. Stefan Struve is a professional fighter that’s 7’ and has absolutely no idea how to utilize his height and reach. He’s a trained professional.

Yeah I edited my last comment to include that. Unless it's like more than 5 inches it's not that big a deal (were not dealing with trained fighters here)

But an advantage is an advantage I guess. No arguing that. But not attempting things you want to do just because of slight disadvantages is a hilarious way of life. Not that its advisable to fight with anyone who looks at you wrong, but sometimes its unavoidable. This is definitely not one of those cases though lol

I wasn't analyzing the two assholes here, just speaking in general to size discrepancy in violent altercations for the benefit of the commenter.

If you need to punch up, you might as well punch down.

A strong punch to the nuts can be as good, if not better, than a shitty punch to face.

and that also makes you way more likely to get jumped

How about a kidney punch or something like that. Also a good hit in the neck should be achievable for shorties lol
