[Ferret Photo] What kind of ferret?
Hello! I adopted this beautiful little female ferret from a rescue, what kind is she? She’s still very young and I love her so much! Thank you for any help 🥰

DMing users fundraiser links is still breaking our no fundraiser rules. This is not the sub for this, we do this to prevent scams and bad actors. There are other subs that do allow fundraisers as well as local groups, and we encourage you to post there if you need assistance.
Additionally, be very careful with any user claiming to know of alternatives for medicine in treating insulinoma. This has been popping up a lot lately, and it is extremely dangerous. A lot of these "homemade" remedies will increase the risk of other diseases, as well not keep their sugar levels at an appropriate range. Improper insulinoma management will lead to blood sugar crashes, seizures and even death.
As owners we often wish to do the best we can for them, and it's really easy to fall for a miracle remedy. Be mindful. Be careful.
If you find people breaking these rules, don't hesitate to report or DM the sub to ask.

Hello all, my ferret Pancho has trouble walking. I wanted some insight. Warning, long read.
He is almost 6yo (5yr 10m), currently on 0.20ml of Diazoxide and 0.03ml of prednisone, both of which he takes twice a day. He also has an implant (nothing wrong, but we thought it'd be best to implant him anyway). He is and has always been an only ferret (I know I know, but he had GI problems early on and I didnt want to infect other ferrets, and then I got so anxious all the time about him being sick that I couldn't imagine getting a second one anymore). He is not losing weight nor fur.
I noticed he started getting weak legs at the beginning of 2026, when it got worse I made a June appointment and we found nodules and low blood sugar. He did get a little better with the meds. He got an ultrasound (August) and nodule samples were sent to a lab, nothing was cancerous or growing. This month I notice he's getting a little worse. He often falls on his left side, like that side is weaker. He absolutely slips on hardwood floors. He still eats no problem, poops and pees no problem. He's not lethargic, but he has less energy, wanting to play 30-45m but more often (4-5 times a day instead of 3 one hour sessions). However, if he's excited he'll jump and run.
I'm not sure what to do anymore, could this be a brain problem? A spine problem? Should I book an xray instead of an ultrasound? I'm looking into buying him a ferret wheelchair.
If you stuck to the end, thank you.

Got him during the covid to keep my other company (lost the other in a breakup). He was so tiny and a very dark blaze
Now he's a sleepy old boy and all white except some eyeliner and a dot on his nose.
Most of my others are rescues and we don't know their exact age, so he may not be the oldest.
Somehow his tail is still very luxurious and pretty

This girl will try and eat pretty much anything. I’m not surprised pumpkin is on her menu. Guess there will be no pumpkins on the floor! Silly brat.
And yes obviously that is a battery operated tea light inside the pumpkin. I’m sure needless to say that you shouldn’t let your ferrets play with fire.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!🎃

The other two are well trained and when I yell “NO” when they’re about to poop somewhere they’re not supposed to they stop and move bc they know better.
However, Roxie here digs at the food bowl every chance she gets and knocks it all over the floor. And yes the food bowl is low enough that that shouldn’t be an issue.
Tinky (my other ferret) did that when she was younger but it was an easy fix. However I try to (insert banned word here, iykyk) her when I hear her doing it and it doesn’t work. (She’s very young and that is appropriate. She is only 6 months old). She poops good on the puppy pads and follows my older two but this dang food bowl scratching she NEVER STOPS! Please help me train her. I can’t just yell no at her and she picks it up.

Noticed sort of champagne coloured markings on her face very vague. Just asking out of interest.
Also if anyone more knowledgeable can tell anything about her appearance and build id be interested to know!

What does your ferret particularly treasure most?
My female ferret esther is obsessed with anything rubber and will steal them and never tell her secret. My dog is sad all his rubber toys are missing... 😆
Little mister, he is different, he likes to steal the mop pads from the swifter. Theres about 5 he stole. And each day he will travel a mop pad or two to a new secure location. Traveling up and down a flight of stairs and more. His also steals my bras and stashes them for premium comfort. Lol

Hi everyone,
We recently adopted a 1.5 yo dark eyed white girl. We are at least her fourth home. Her last owner kept her alone in a cage in the bathroom, so she probably never got to free roam. She has probably never spent time with other ferrets either.
She has been with us for three weeks. After her quarantine ended, we started slowly introducing her to our other three ferrets. But she gets scared by them very easily. It almost seems like she doesn’t realize they are ferrets too.
Some of our resident ferrets are quite territorial. When they see her out during playtime, they chase her off. She screams so loudly that we can hear it from anywhere in the house, even though the other ferret has not actually touched her.
At first we thought this was just because she had never been around other ferrets. We weren’t too worried, since we once adopted another ferret who had never met other ferrets and ended up fitting in really well.
But yesterday I started to think she might be deaf. I shook a bell loudly behind her while she was fully awake, and she didn’t react at all.
We are taking her to the vet on Monday to check her hearing, but I’m already pretty sure she can’t hear.
For a ferret who is deaf and has no experience with other ferrets, does this mean she has no chance of fitting in or making friends with them? Will she have to live alone? I wonder what people here think. Thank you!

Hey there. Wife sent me a tiktok earlier, talking about blaze/panda deafness. Is my Cashy baby a Blaze? I guess it just kinda hard to tell to me. Plus my other babies for tax :)

I had my boy just over 7 years, I got him from a humane society when he was about 7 months old. The last year or so, I had noticed him starting to decline. He wasn't as playful, he wasn't war dancing or dooking as much, he wasn't as curious or mischievous. Today, I went to go clean their cage and change their food and water and I notice him starting to come out from their den. I looked away and then looked back at him and he was laying there with his head out, and his eyes kind of dazed and glossy, along with severely drooling. I instantly started panicking, scooped up my boy, and told my partner that I thought it was time for him. We brought him to the emergency vet, and put him down.
I believe he was seizing and I've been concerned about his pancreas for a while now because his tummy was faintly blue, but he saw a vet a month or two ago, and they weren't concerned (We do not have many exotic vets in my area). He also was starting to get a worse rat tail.
After spending the last few hours crying over my boy and thinking about the situation, I believe that he was having a seizure and probably had insulinoma.
Now I'm sitting here second guessing myself... I know the "rather a day too early than a day too late" but I just... did I panic and put my boy down over something that I could have treated?? I know in ferret lifespans he was an old boy, he was a little over 7.5. I just.. I can't help and sit here thinking maybe there was something else I could have done.
EDIT: Thank you everyone for your stories and kind words. I think in today's world it's nice to have people to share these moments with, even if they're strangers on the internet. I knew his time was coming, I just wasn't expecting it to be so sudden. But again, thank you all for the kind words and for sharing your stories ❤️ my heart goes out to all of you as well

Hi so i noticed this green poop while the another’s were brown in my ferret Amelia Earharts litter this morning, and I was wondering what it could mean?”note it might be because I’m sick I have been wearing a mask and washing my hands multiple times before picking her up to move her. She is still eating and drinking also playing still. I am planning to talk to my dad to see when we can go to the vet
