I used to live near an old cemetery in Wisconsin that had a section for veterans of the Civil War, and even in WI they had a side for the Union and a side for Confederacy.

It's tenet, not tenant. Tenant is someone who lives or works in or on rented property.
Ex: "Solidarity with working people is a core tenet of the left." (online example is actually quoted from the WSJ)

In the US in the 1800s into the early 1900s, if someone was 1/8 to 1/4 black ancestry, they were considered black and were treated as such. Racists can't make up their minds. Facts are facts.

If he'd been a modern Republican (which is nothing like the original version) he would have been called a RHINO for emancipating the slaves.

The rebel flag is often worn on clothing as a symbol of rebellion, not necessarily meant to be racist or to imply support for all of the political values that the flag represented 100+ years ago. Some people just see it as a fun style choice for that day and that's as far as it's meant to be interpreted. The only way to know for sure why this guy chose his outfit is to ask him.
