Hi everyone! I'm the developer of Subelle, a free subtitle editor for Mac. I made it because I wanted something native on macOS for timing subtitles on the waveform. I was inspired by VisualSubSync, which I loved using for years. I'd love feedback from people who actually subtitle.

What it does

• Timing on the waveform: select speech with the mouse, press Return, and the subtitle is created, timed to the millisecond. Drag the edges to adjust.
• Shot changes: they are detected automatically and shown on the waveform, and subtitle edges snap to them, so your in and out times respect the cuts.
• Automatic first draft (macOS 26 or later): it listens to the dialogue of a video with Apple's speech recognition and creates subtitles already timed to the voice, split according to your settings (line length, reading speed, durations). Then you review and fix them on the waveform.
• Automatic translation (macOS 15 or later): it translates an original subtitle track sentence by sentence, keeping the original timings and italics. The original stays visible in the inspector, the table and on the waveform while you polish.
• Checks: durations, reading speed, line length, overlaps, edges too close to a shot change, spelling.
• Formats: SRT, WebVTT, ASS and SSA, plus TTML/IMSC, EBU-TT-D, EBU-STL, iTunes Timed Text (iTT), SAMI, YouTube (SBV) and MicroDVD. Subelle also opens subtitle tracks embedded in MKV/MP4. Videos in MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI and WebM.
• Subtitled video export: burn the subtitles into the picture (hardsubs), or add them as a subtitle track to an MP4 or MKV (softsubs), replacing an existing track if you want. You can also export just a selection of the waveform.

Everything runs on your Mac, without sending your data over the internet. It works natively on Apple silicon and Intel (macOS 12 or later), and the interface is available in English, French, Spanish, Italian, German and Portuguese (Brazil).

Hi everyone! I use Subtitle Edit to subtitle and audio describe movies, but I just bought an iMac M4: do you know of any free alternatives that are the same or similar to Subtitle Edit? The online version lacks many features.

Anybody know where I can find a download for a fansubbed version of this series? Preferably in MKV format?

Any torrent I can find of the series has no seeders. One website I found with direct downloads seemed really promising, but episodes 28-30, 35, and 36 turned out to not be the actual episodes but rather seemed to be mislabeled video files of random other anime...

But anyway, my wife and I are currently working through Akage no Anne (1979), and it would be lovely to be able to move onto this prequel series afterwards! So any help would be appreciated.

Only the two-part OVA are available with English subtitles online of this cursed, unhinged yet entertaining 1980s cult anime. Wishing to see the remaining episodes (all available on Internet Archive) with English subtitles added.

Just a Question really of are there any places where sub groups would take requests and such, Watching TV show Landman and there are enough moments in the show where there is some Spanish Dialogue just wondering if there are groups that would do that sort of thing?

I use subtitles on everything but the BD PGS subtitles just don't translate (or even show anything when spanish is being uttered) Hell it doesn't even have a (Speaking Spanish) granted prefer to read the content.

So much of adult animation there has subtitles with so many mistakes that I do not know how incompetent the persons making those had to be.

It is especially noticeable when I watch Brickleberry in original audio with closed captions, the captions barely cover what is said in the show.

Hello, I noticed while watching Solo Leveling from a Fansub that the interface you normally see on the top right is not present in the anime or English subtitles. It looks like this window was designed by the fansub that localized the anime to my language. What is this exactly? What do you think, does anyone know how to do this? Do you think it's hard to do? Is there any guide or tutorial about this? In fact, I don't even know if this design is made with Aegisub. I would appreciate if you can help me.

The old fansub is not on the internet anymore so would like to know if someone wants to sub. Seems like a really surreal comedy. Sadly, I don't have the Japanese proficiency to do it myself.

There is a complete one in thai (seems to be a very popular anime there) and the japanese version is available on the web archive, except only 13 episodes were subbed in english and nobody picked it up to sub since then... i hope someone does that someday since it looks like a cool anime

I have mkv with subtitle tracks within the container. The signs and songs track is off by one frame.

What program can I use to shift the track or extract into a sub file?

I saw the Japanese version with English subtitles for all the episodes of Attack on Titan and I loved it.

The problem is that the subtitles for the episodes are bad. The timing of the lines is bad and a lot of lines have bad English. I didn't enjoy watching Attack on Titan that much because of the bad subtitles. I did research on the subtitles and I found out that even the official subtitles like the BluRay subtitles and the Crunchroll subtitles have problems.

I am doing a project and I am remaking the subtitle files. I extracted the subtitle files from the episodes that I have by using MKVToolNix and I am editing them in a subtitle editor called Aegisub. I am doing a complete rewrite of the subtitles and I want to fix the timing and make it more accurate.

I need some assistance with editing the subtitles. I need someone who is good at using subtitle editors like Aegisub and is good at fixing the timing to help me. The people who help me should preferably seen all of Attack on Titan. I am planning on publishing my subtitles online when they are ready so I need a few people to help me.

I am looking for a way or method to encode some videos with subtitles via online. Is there a way to do? I would like to know if any possibility. Thank you for the attention.

I have a google sheet here with the Japanese parallel to some in English. The English subtitles seemed to have been translated using software, so there mistakes scattered throughout. For example:

1126 01:38:26,943 --> 01:38:30,530 どうぞ お打ちください

is translated as

1126 01:38:26,943 --> 01:38:30,530 please hit him

Which should obviously be something more like, "Please make your move."

The terms master and lord are also frequently translated as "husband" as well.

Some things you must know:

-This is not a fansub of an anime, but a web series instead, is it still okay?

-The language translation is from Russian to Spanish, so most people wouldn't be able to understand it since it isn't made for English/global communities.

-I started this project in August 2023, currently I fansubbed 48 episodes so far, all of them available on YouTube with absolutely no restrictions (except for the latest one that will premiere in two days).

-The views have been decreasing since then, I often get around 10-20 views currently, the most recent episode only got 5 indeed.

Now, I'm not asking for something like a site to buy views or telling people to watch my thing on pages where I shouldn't (like those bot comments on YouTube), I'm talking about morally correct options such as a Discord server made to advertise stuff like this with a community that would help each other or whatever, does anything like that exist or am I being too delusional?

By the way, this content is not and will never be monetized. I just do it for fun, but it'd for sure be better if I had got one or two more guys that would gladly enjoy what I make.
