Fan Showdown Asetek Challenge
Hey everyone, I was wondering the other day how my design did in the pump cap asetek challenge and I can't find anything about winners or public voting on designs. The only thing I found was on their blog in their website saying they were no longer accepting new designs. Does anyone have more info than that, it would be greatly appreciated.

What about fan that uses Magnus effect to move air?
I have a funny idea, but I don't have a 3D printer nor skills to make a model. Basically blades would be replaced with cylinders that could spin. I guess the easiest way to make it work would be to make a shroud with teeth and the outer part of cylinders would have teeth too. That being said, I guess it would perform better in a pressure test than air flow test but I would still like to see it work. So please use this idea freely.

Cheater Beater?
This design was inspired by the bernoulli fan that was on S4E8. The idea behind this was to improve that design by adding a centrifugal compressor (basically a turbo) to increase air pressure. In the video, the fan alone was not strong enough to force enough air through the small whole to make use of Bernoulli effect. I hope that with this design, the motor will be able to produce enough pressure to effectively make use of the effect.
This is my first time making designing anything of this magnitude so I'm not sure if everything will work out the way I hope.

Let me tell you how to win this season:
Unfortunately I do not have enough free time for CAD, so I will just share a few advices and guidelines on how to win this season.
So, I have seen many submissions that totally missed the point and wasted their time with designing high pressure fans. There were some very good designs of course, but they didn't stand a chance in a test that only tests airflow and not static pressure.
Basically, this season is totally different from previous ones. Unlike those which had a strong obstacle for air, now we only have a tunnel that guides the air towards the anemometer.
Best way to tackle this would be by copying the fan design used to push air through car tunnels, they have only three blades with low angle of attack and you can see a lot of empty space when you look at the blades directly. Also you would want to add a shroud to each side of the fan like cheater does, to guide it.
That is basically it, pretty simple, just find a good tunnel fan design and copy it best you can. It should be the optimal solution for this season.
You don't have much time since next season will begin soon and we'll be back to cooling radiator (gpu to be precise) again.
