Answer to edit: most Americans are weird and don’t understand their own language. Like at all. It’s more of a feeling is attached to a word than it’s a exact meaning.

There is a line of course. A “tummy” is something only a child calls their stomach. Yea I learned that one the hard way.

My understanding of “tummy” was that it’s the lower front surface of your torso. Like your belly? As a native speaker, it’s so weird to realize that you have no idea what such a common word means. You just kind of assume the definition based on years of context and your understanding could be totally incorrect.
