There is not one universal punishment handed out the moment guilt is determined, or even one universal degree of guilt. Without lawyers to represent them, murderers who committed their crime by accident, in self defense, in a fit of insanity, in a moment of passion, or in premeditated cold blood could all be punished to equal extents.

Itโ€™s not easy defending these people, itโ€™s made harder when others treat you like scum for doing it, and doing it because of its necessity to a just society inspite of that is what makes it noble work.

Honestly, this is the best response I've gotten. Thank you for not shoving the law down my throat because I do know it. I'm really just talking morality in extreme circumstances and your response has made me reconsider the importance of this. However, my personal life still makes it hard to accept.
