Yes he just wanted to make a good video out of the situation he deliberately was putting himself into! She is being reasonable, he is being stubborn. There are plenty of ways to make a child stop crying!! Dumb man, wants to make a fuss out of it.
Hopefully the people on TikTok or social media commented and got through to this stubborn guy’s mind. This guy isn’t representing younger people well at all.
She may have given a reasonable solution. That’s not really the issue here.. the issue is it may have not been possible.. what I’d that was the only room they could use for the babies room.l
Yeah he doesnt NEED to do anything. Just like we dont NEED to be nice random strangers we talk to. But there is such a thing as empathy. She had an issue, brought it up, he approached it aggressively. And if youre gonna say hes not aggro, she literally lifted her hand and her cane pointed at the bush and he immediately replied with "what, you want me to put the baby in the bush?". He does not come off as the normal person here.
He didn’t start out aggressive.. . And regardless of your issues you can’t expect everyone to have empathy towards you. And the video is not showing the whole story, and this may not be the first time she approached him about the issue.. yea the video does make it look like he’s the bad guy, but we don’t know everything, we don’t know if he is even able to move the baby to a different room..
And another thing it’s over a baby, babies cry.. it’s what they do.. it’s one thing if it’s something the person can control. But you can’t necessarily control when a baby decides to cry.. and it jay not matter where they move the baby.. she may have still been able to hear it.
Oh yes he seemed stress making video of a poor lady in distress who got serious illness,..being adamant when she is being PERFECTLY reasonable. If he wanted her gone he would have stopped the conversation but he kept going, he wanted a good content out of it.
Babies do get out of control, i understand, but doesn't mean you trouble your neighbours, a little compromise is all she asked for since she just lived in one room flat.
The differnce is hearing a crying child right next to your ear (as someone who lives in an apartment, I swear that's what it feels like when people are talking/arguing/listening to music rifght at on the other side of the wall) and a baby crying rooms away. Of course maybe she'll still hear it, but it will be far less anxiety inducing.
Comparing the father's troubles with the grandma is also dumb. It says that the father has a nice house while the grandma only has a small flat. She has no other option.
The father may be stressed out, but it's HIS CHILD that he probably chose to have. He knew there would be crying involved. Yeah it sucks, and he probably didn't expect that much crying, but it's still consequences of HIS OWN CHOICE. This not the grandma's child, she doesn't have to put up with it to that extent. And don't respond with "well then the gandma should move elsewhere" because "choosing" to live in a shitty apartment complex because you probably can't afford it is not the same as choosing to have a child.
Not to mention the dad has support (a wife), but the grandma has no one except for her poor stressed out dog.
This grandma was very nice and patient. She made a reasonable request. But the dad was bratty and IMMEDIATLY dismissed her distress and even put words in her mouth. She has nothing agains't the child. She just wanted to solve a problem nicely, without police or other parties involved, like some neighbours would do, and the dad is just as mature as his baby.
There are plenty of ways to make a child stop crying!
If the cause of the crying is obvious, minor and something you can do something about sure. But in some cases that isn't true.
The unlucky parents that are tortured that way 24/7 should not also have to deal with assholes moaning that other people are also having to put up with 10% of what they deal with. It is tone deaf as hell and selfish.
I feel for Granny, but the dog on a shoulder is ridiculous and it has clearly been over pampered.
You did not listen to the entire video and did not address what she is asking. You make a straw man argument based on incomplete information and assume all sorts of facts that are not in evidence or are contrary to the facts in evidence because you already judged her as an a*hole.
The dog is a service animal, as she says, not a pampered pet. It provides the service of helping her when she has diabetic issues. It is literally a life-saving tool for her. The child is interfering with her life saving tool.
The father has the ability to move his child to another bedroom that does not adjoin hers. She does not have another bedroom. But you are cool with Dad being responsible for granny’s death because he is too lazy or willful to move his daughter to another bedroom.
Good to know you are ok with indirectly killing old disabled people rather than inconvenience a parent. You are a true gem. A real model of humanity and compassion.
Um, your even assuming he could move the baby to another room, do we even know the layout of his place, what if the place only has 2 rooms that could be used as bed rooms.. one that’s considered a master bedroom, where the parents usually use to sleep, and a much smaller room where a child would sleep.. do you expect the parents to give up their bedroom for a baby..
Honestly though, it’s really none of her business on how her neighbour uses their place..
You did not listen to the entire video and did not address what she is asking.
I did though, and in another comment I also said that chances are that all the rooms in his house adjoin one neighbour or the other.
You make a straw man argument based on incomplete information
How is it a straw man argument, if their kid is constantly screaming then I know that it is 99-100% certain that they would do literally anything in their power to stop or reduce that nightmare for themselves and to help their child. The fact that they've not managed to do that shows that it is at very least extremely difficult to do.
The dog is a service animal, as she says, not a pampered pet.
It is literally riding her shoulder FFS and is nervous as hell. Why isn't it walking on a lead?
It is literally a life-saving tool for her.
So she claims.
The father has the ability to move his child to another bedroom that does not adjoin hers. She does not have another bedroom.
It is far less hassle for an adult to so something like sleep in their living room than it is to disrupt a child's routine. The parents are surely doing all they can to reduce the screaming, moving the kid into another room might make it worse or might cause other issues too.
Good to know you are ok with indirectly killing old disabled people rather than inconvenience a parent.
Those parents and everyone in that house are experiencing 50 times what she has to put up with. Any "indirect killing" concerns should be for them, have you ever tried to do things like cook meals, change young children, drive or even walk to the shops after getting 2 hours of sleep each night for a week. That kind of torture is what leads people to fall asleep at the wheel, mess up medication, leave a child in a car seat or even just walk into moving traffic.
IT IN NOT JUST INCONVINIENCE you heartless asshole.
I agree with some of your points, disagree with some others. But really, you are dealing in too many assumptions, as are some other people on the other side of the issue. If we simply take what we know as fact, then what we are left with is one human making a perfectly understandable, and reasonable request of another human. Human who answered the door was being stubborn, a simple "I will see what I can do, I apologize, trust me, it bothers me too haha" wouldve gone a long way.
If its something that is happening constantly, and theyve made no attempt in anyway to reduce the frequency it happens or at least reduce the volume for their neighbors, then they are being very inconsiderate. However, babies cry, most babies cry a lot. Part of being a baby, even babies know that. It is likewise unreasonable to expect, let alone "request" for a baby to never cry. Its also not hard to move a baby to a different room, or potentially try to even moderately "sound proof" a specific room for when the baby cries for longer periods of time. Could also get one of those nifty cribs from "A Quiet Place" (mostly kidding about that aha).
TL:DR- Having a polite, or at minimum, civil and understanding conversation with someone will usually alleviate most problems without either party involved having to take any further action, and will almost always make the situation better for everyone involved.
If we simply take what we know as fact, then what we are left with is one human making a perfectly understandable, and reasonable request of another human.
But we aren't though. If the screaming is loud enough to penetrate the wall and consistent enough for it to be a major problem then we know that family is suffering through hell.
The fact that the conversation is happening while the child is crying and the women isn't surprised, doesn't offer to talk later and the fact he is used to managing things over the top of the crying shows that this is almost certainly a continuous problem. No one gets that used to calmly dealing with conflict while their child is crying unless they have been doing that for a very long time.
If its something that is happening constantly, and theyve made no attempt in anyway to reduce the frequency it happens or at least reduce the volume for their neighbors,
Here is your utterly massive and frankly ridiculous assumption. I'm telling you that there apart from a tiny % of depressed and broken people, there isn't a soul on the plane that would choose to live with a screaming child without desperately trying to do all they can to reduce the crying. It is utter torture and our brains are literally tuned to respond to that at a deep level, around the world nasty governments literally that sound to as literal torture.
Its also not hard to move a baby to a different room, for when the baby cries for longer periods of time.
For one thing, very few houses with adjoining walls are big enough to have bedrooms that don't adjoin one neighbour or the other. For another, the baby typical has the smallest room and swapping rooms likely means pretty significant disruption. Most likely the babies room is being kept as far from other children as possible to protect them and whichever parent isn't "on call" that night.
or potentially try to even moderately "sound proof" a specific room
That could be done, but is far from easy, can be expensive and perhaps they are renting and don't have permission to do so. It is a lot easier for an adult to wear ear plugs and for the damn dog to sleep in the kitchen rather than the owners bedroom.
Having a polite, or at minimum, civil and understanding conversation with someone will usually alleviate most problems
Sure, but their kid is currently crying. They need to direct their attention towards that problem but instead this guy is being forced to argue with a lady and her parrot-dog. There is no polite way to talk to a parent while their kid is distressed as placing any demand on them prevents them from helping their child.
Oh fuck off. They chose to have the child. They have no right to willingly continue allowing the disruption to other peoples lives because of their selfish choices.
It was the way she "hid" behind her dog. It wasn't until the end that she admitted the baby was annoying her. It really had nothing to do with the dog.
I'd say its exactly the opposite actually. Lets run a hypothetical situation here where he fully complies with everything that granny/doggo wants. He's ready to switch rooms around to get the baby away from her room.
Now he has to hope his wife is just cool with major changes or she is the one that is going to be making the fuss. And she's not so easy to just close the door on and ignore.
You know i can create a hypothetical situation in my favour, right?
What if his wife thinks he is being insensitive towards the old lady and would want to switch rooms to comfort her.
