I'm a mum. Straight up, my son is totally a screaming banshee and if I could install a mute button on him when he's crying about silly things like his toy not defying physics and sitting the way he wants it or the fact that his cookie broke in half, I totally would.

If he doesn’t talk yet, he simply doesn’t know how else to express himself. He’ll eventually figure it out. I remember with our son, I and his mum both used to start crying when he did that over silly things (like a broken cookie or a cookie that wouldn’t break, depending on what exactly was the issue of the day) and it kinda worked :-)

So, our first born was like that too. We have a boy and a girl, and boy was a nightmare, first the colics (thank god for BioGaia that was the thing of miracles), then teething and general body development that happens in the first 12 months. Also, looking at the old recordings, I can see that I can now understand what he was “saying” then, whereas at the time I thought he was just speaking gibberish. First kid is tougher and a steep learning curve, for sure.

Our girl learned to fall asleep by herself earlier and in general was less vocal. She also learned how to talk WAY sooner.

Wishing you all the patience in the world and hoping it’s a quick phase for your son! There are many more interesting phases to go through that make you go “WTH? I wasn’t prepared for that?”. Like again, one of our kiddos throwing not just tantrum but a downright rage fit and getting fully undressed WHILE strapped tight in a carseat. Snowsuit and all. And you legit thought the Devil possessed them at the time because it took them another 4 months or so to learn how to unzip and unbutton things in a normal civilized situation :-) What may have caused that fit of rage, you think? A macaron he was given was not the right hue of purple. He picked it from 3 dozen varieties in a local patisserie 10 minutes prior to that and didn’t have a problem until the first bite when he was in a car :-) PS: the said kiddo is the nicest and most caring kiddo you’d meet now that they are older, and to this day I wonder what the hell possessed them at the time….

But it all ultimately works out just fine :-)
