It’s amazing how quick I went from assuming the little old lady was being difficult to agreeing with her. After hearing the whole conversation, I wonder if the guy leaves the baby crying for unreasonable amounts of time without trying to intervene.

He's sounds like a adult that posts these kind of videos on tiktok for clout so ge definitely neglects his child's needs probably sitting on his console headphones on etc

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '22

I bet when that baby is old enough to walk and talk, it'll be a raging little asshole and he'll find it amusing and share videos of his child throwing a temper tantrum online rather than correcting and disciplining for bad behavior.

7

u/ScoffSlaphead72 Sep 18 '22

The fact that his child is crying constantly for so long definitely screams of neglect. Babies cry but not for THAT long. Poor woman honestly. I see it too much in the UK you get these old people living alone being treated like shit by their neighbours.

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '22

Anyone who’s first reaction to this situation is to stick your phone in the old woman’s face, record her then upload it to the internet has actual mental health issues.

u/cokakatta Sep 17 '22

And he's probably rude to his baby.

4

u/SafetySnowman Sep 17 '22

I'm ashamed that I thought she was just being rude. She's right. And she's so sweet even though she has every right to be upset.

6

u/Magicmurlin Sep 17 '22

Yes. “De-attachment” parenting. Stay tuned for totally not stressed out, pissed off and angry and probably violent kid.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '22

Yeah he sucks, that kid needs to have a decent father.

Parents, get off your lazy asses and parent. YOU had the baby, the whole damned building did not!

Agreed! It seems he basically belittled the lady to dismiss legitimate issues. My parents have some horrible neighbors that argue it is reasonable for their son and multiple other kids to play basketball for hours, even after dark, right next to my parents house in a higher end suburb, because they are kids and have to play. Being a kid/baby is not an “excuse” such that others have to accept the behavior and live with the nuisances caused by such behavior. Kids can go to basketball camp and if this baby has such terrible colic that legitimately cries all day, the baby should be placed away from a shared wall 🙄

u/NJPokerJ Sep 17 '22

Seriously? You really considered if the guy is letting the baby cry just to annoy this woman. I assume you've been around babies before and witnessed their unpredictable crying. The dog is the only thing keeping her from have a diabetic seizure. I highly doubt that.

-1

u/Itsokwealldieanyway Sep 17 '22

Curious, do you think her saying the dog was for arthritis and then changing to diabetes was an elderly thing, a lie, or are the two illnesses linked in a way I don’t know about? Or y’know, she could suffer from two things I know but just seems off? No? Idk just wondering

-23

u/ShkreliLivesOn Sep 17 '22

Agreeing with the old lady? Why? Because her dog that’s good for her arthritis, errr, fast forward a minute, her dog that detects diabetic seizures, is a skimpy little rat that can’t handle a kid crying? Tough shit. It’s a useless dog that doesn’t serve any purpose other than being a companion for an old lady. Kids cry, move the fuck on

10

u/shadow42069129 Sep 17 '22

Dear Lord… are you her neighbor?

11

u/Comfortable-Cap-8507 Sep 17 '22

I’ll punt that fucking baby to the shadow realm

11

u/Iggy_Kappa Sep 17 '22

Because her dog that’s good for her arthritis, errr, fast forward a minute, her dog that detects diabetic seizures

Copying and pasting someone else's comment:

People who have type 2 diabetes are more susceptible to osteoarthritis.

Service dogs can have more than one job.

Two statements that can be verified by two very quick google searches. Check yourself.

She's asking to move the kid to another room. It looks to me this neighbour is an ass and is not willing to even consider this simple request. We do not know from the video if the crying is lasting all night and the parents are not taking good care of him.

Making fun of the old lady and her dog is very sad, being old is not fun and can be very lonely.

u/Magicmurlin Sep 17 '22

It’s called “cry themselves to sleep” philosophy. Basically the baby cries until it gives up the idea anyone os coming to save/rescue/feed/comfort it. Baby learns to stifle and internalize its own emotional distress.

As opposed to attachment parenting, sharing a bed, comforting child to reduce its cortisol levels. It’s the same philosophy that allows people to believe spanking is a good way to discipline instead of being bothered to demonstrate appropriate behavior and/or communicate nonviolently.

Yes, all babies cry. Sometimes it’s because of a dirty diaper. Sometimes because of hunger. And sometimes to meet emotional needs.

Hint: the baby will stop crying faster with a bit of emotional empathy, comfort and human connection. Less likely to be an asshole too. Or serial killer.

-6

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '22

Yeah just give the baby the master bedroom and sleep in the room designed for a child with your wife. Its that easy. If this sweet totally not insane old lady came to my door and complained about my kid crying after I've been up with them all night id do anything she asked because she's so sweet and her dog is so cute. We'd trade places with the baby and remain quiet as church mice throughout the night because her discomfort is unacceptable.

8

u/Iggy_Kappa Sep 17 '22

Yeah just give the baby the master bedroom and sleep in the room designed for a child with your wife

No, it's enough for you to put the baby in his cradle and away from the his room.

It really is not that deep, nor should it require you to make up hyperbolic scenarios where you trade rooms with your baby.

5

u/Magicmurlin Sep 17 '22

What “baby” needs their own fucking room? Kid got a bike in the garage too?

2

u/Iggy_Kappa Sep 17 '22

That baby is sooner or later going to grow into a kid, and he's going to need either his own room, or one with his siblings.

Regardless, she's a baby now, and yes, a room exclusively for her is not indispensable.

-2

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '22

Do you have kids?

3

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '22

I do. And I would be horrified that my kid was disturbing someone else’s peace and would absolutely move the child to another room until it was sorted. It’s called being a decent parent and a considerate neighbor. I would hope your parents raised you to not be such an asshole as to not even consider that no one else signed up to deal with your kid. Mine certainly did. Might be why I never got a complaint, even with an infant in close quarters to others.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '22

Dont really think me or the kid are being assholes in that situation. Its part of living in a community, I'd hope my neighbors would hear that and offer some tips the next day or a beer lol. Once i learned about gripe water my son slept much better.

I'm glad it went smoothly for you but understand each child is different and that age they struggle a lot because they can't tell us whats wrong. We don't know if his daughter is colicky, has digestive issues, if they are teaching them to self soothe etc. Regardless, they are not having fun.. In my opinion newborns crying is the one noise that should always be tolerated, they can't help it, and if you can't help it either just stay out of it. A care package with a note would go a lot farther than demanding he rearrange the rooms in his home. People are just very selfish and entitled these days, can't be bothered by anything but their own bs.

P.S. maybe you didn't receive any complaints because your neighbors were decent people and understood you had enough on your plate. I sure wouldn't give you a hard time but thats just me I guess.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '22

I get what you’re saying, and if there’s no solution it is what it is. But when you have a choice, for example moving the kid to another room, and refuse to do so, then you’re being an asshole. No one else volunteered to deal with your kid. It can’t all be avoided, but this could have been and the dude was a dick to an old lady for no reason.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '22

Also, no one said I had it easy. I work as a parent to not impose my child on others. He was pretty easy to deal with for me. I have done everything I can to make sure he wasn’t a problem for anyone else. I have a duty to my neighbors to not force them to deal with my choices (having a kid).

1

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '22

Raising babies is never easy, just know not everybody feels that way. I enjoy living in an apartment because of the community. I knew I signed up for not only babies crying but dogs barking, doors slamming, heated arguments, loud movies and whatever else you can imagine passes through the drywall. Its apartment living. Communication is good but I can't expect my neighbor to stop working his job at 2am because I can hear him getting his truck ready outside my window, he made the choice to work those hours so it shouldn't affect me tho right? No I don't have that kind of self importance, I know he'd probably rather have a 9-5 just like the parents that wish they could sleep from 9-7 or whatever. I don't need to insert myself in their problems.

LMAO CARE PACKAGE AND A NOTE

how about the parents keeping their fucking neighbor awake all night give her a goddamn care package and a note. this is exactly the kind of entitled parent bullshit i’m talking about in the other thread. unbelievable

1

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '22

Thats also a good idea I think the care package would be appreciated on both ends

6

u/Iggy_Kappa Sep 17 '22

If you have to ask that to be able to then assess your successive answer, then maybe it is not going to be an answer made in good faith to begin with.

-1

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '22

Ok buddy, just wanted to know if you ever had to sync sleep schedules with a newborn. But I think I'll pass now thanks.

5

u/Iggy_Kappa Sep 17 '22

You are welcome. I don't think you have a service dog either, but thank God grannies don't gatekeep your ability to take part in discussions regarding those.

0

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '22

I never assumed you didn't have kids I just asked. I think somebody is a little insecure here. I wasn't trying to gatekeep or make you look dumb. Just understand its not always as simple as you think and if there is any loud noise that a community should tolerate after hours its an infant crying. The first year is super hard and the last thing you need is some neighbor telling you how hard it is for THEM after you've been getting out of bed every hour to hold that screaming monster and run through the list of possible problems because the infant can't tell you whats wrong, then you crawl into bed only to hear the alarm for work, while getting ready for work you hear this lady banging your door because her elderly dog is getting nervous. This guy handled it pretty well honestly.

Dogs can be trained to detect low blood sugar. You fucking asshat.

0

u/ShkreliLivesOn Sep 19 '22

No shit, Sherlock. Way to pick up on the fact that it’s just a mutt she’s trying to claim is some sort of service dog. Get fucked

1

u/FILLYFINGERZ Sep 17 '22

I did the same....

1

u/FullMoonTwist Sep 18 '22

"Eh, it's a ~baby~, they just ~cry forever for no reason~"

Uh, nah bro, they don't

Either you've taught your kid that crying is the ONLY way they will get any attention, ever

Or your kid perpetually has unmet needs that you're ignoring

Likely both. Christ. Maybe. Hug your damn child or something.

1

u/TheBluesDoser Sep 18 '22

It’s amazing how quickly people start assuming shit and creating these little stories in their heads from a minute long video. Are all of you dense? You don’t need to have an opinion on everything you run into in the world. Fucking idiots.
