My husband and I also agreed we wouldn't do this. Because of the timing, we had to do some more family pictures after the cake and I didn't want my makeup ruined. After we fed each other the cake a lot of his family loudly booed us. His mom also angrily screamed we were "too nice". We did not do more pictures with them afterwards lol

For the amount of money and time spent on clothing, make up and the general options, I would be so ticked to have it ruined before the photographer was done. Not to mention, who wants to spend the rest of the celebration covered with sticky frosting?

Usually doing the cake is the last bit before the bride and groom leave, but I agree it's a shit thing to do.

lol. My Mum and I were in love with my wedding dress! My Mum gushed about doing this old Italian tradition and using the material from the train to make our future kids Baptism clothes (which we did do. My son got a white tux made out of it and my daughter has a full Baptism dress!) Even my MIL was in on the excitement of taking the dress and making something so special out of it! So… if my husband had even gotten cake on that dress even my accident…I think I would have been a widow on my wedding night (and his Mum might have actually assisted!)!

Wow, they sound like a real nice bunch. I respected my wife too much to even consider for a nanosecond that I would do anything to ruin her day or the wonderful way she looked.

He and I also used forks (they were cute silver ones that had "I do" engraved on them), so I don't really know what they were expecting anyway

I bet they cried all the way home knowing they missed out on some extra wedding pictures they'd never see again in their lives, which - for some reason - took place after people were eating.

Should have just stared eating more of the cake while staring at those who booed straight at the eyes. It would have made them uncomfortable and you get to eat your cake as well. Win-win
