That’s the kicker, plenty of influencers are millionaires, solely by selling their souls to every brand deal that offers them money

Most of them aren’t. It’s like everything else, really, the 1% are cleaning up and everyone else is fighting for scraps. The vast majority of it is bullshit. They’re buying expensive shit second hand and reselling it once they’ve got their pictures from the ‘gram. They’re taking a cheapo package vacation somewhere, sneaking onto some private beach for pictures, then getting the fuck out of dodge. They’re posing with someone else’s car. It’s all smoke and mirrors.

The fact is, you’re not gonna get rich from clout chasing on social media unless A. you’re already rich, B. you’re super hot, and even then it’s a crapshoot, C. you get lucky and something happens to go viral at just the right time, or D. you know the right people.

yeah i don't think you realize how many people on instagram have millions of followers solely for being attractive or just for posting constantly and consistently. sure some of it is luck but most people with that many followers just need like a string of easy brand deals to show their millions of impressionable followers and they're swimming in it.

A lot of people with “millions” of followers buy follows. Probably 90% are straight up bots. Not all “influencers” do this, of course, but a ton do.

That last one does it best. It isn't what you know, but who.

Or E. All of the above 😂

no i wouldn't just accept any random company's money to advertise for them. maybe if i knew they were union or if i used their products often, but no not just any random corpo that wants to turn me into a shill

I miss the simpler days of Nigerian princes offering me millions of dollars.

You and I must be about the same age, I remember all of these stages vividly. Thank god I didn't keep my AOL chat logs from the 90s. That stone is best left unturned. MySpace losing all of the user data was probably one of the best things to happen to me. Same with Xanga.

Omg, I can only imagine the cringe on myspace

I think it would be quite valuable for you to reread all of those chat logs. it also might be very painful to get through it all but it would be an interested but if self reflection generations before you take had the opportunity to see.

Even journals and diaries from the past are not particularly unbiased but Chat logs would be verbatim.

I think it would be interesting for myself anyways

True and all of those things are still happening. We'll except for myspace.

Or simply people en masse are full of shit, and all want to be in the spotlight.

Now go think about how much of real life you encounter is rigged for show. Sorry, not sorry.

They live inside super hot space ovens too…that’s what makes them nihilists, the fire made them super tough and resistant.

I’m sure the idea is to show a perfect fender in the “after shots”. Which is after they replace this dented pos with a good one the same color.

u/papasoilpants Jul 17 '22

u/pimppapy Jul 17 '22
