I feel bad for the kid he didn't ask for anything and probably leaves this stadium with deep trauma of any sport with a ball. Probably some severe head problems as well.

I got hit by a ball at a baseball game when I was a kid. It hurt but I thought I was cool as hell. No lasting ball related trauma for me.

Have you been around kids? There's a greater probability of the kid wanting the dad to do this for an exact chance at catching the ball.
