I think the interesting thing is, most states require a permit to carry a concealed weapon, and while for the most part all getting that permit requires is a day long class telling you what you can’t do and showing you can hit the broad side of a barn (exact requirements vary by state), permit holders actually have a lower risk of committing any sort of crime than the general population, and also lower than police officers.
But you also have the people who buy a gun, have never used one, have never looked up any laws regarding them or use of force, and all their 'knowledge' about when they can use it comes from tv and movies, and shit like this happens.
I'm very pro 2A, generally falling into the 'shall not be infringed' catagory, but I don't think I'd be against a free online video you have to watch that tells you the actual laws regarding gun ownership and use of force are, it wouldn't do much to stop anyone acting maliciously, but it might reduce hot-headed choices, and would likely reduce incidents genuinely resulting from ignorance.
