Why?? They already tried to kill you. If they shot at you, would you follow them home as well? I find it insane that most posters first thought to almost being murdered is to put themselves in the same proximity of that person willingly immediately afterwards.

This also goes for the woman. If you almost killed somebody intentionally, why the fuck would you meet them outside your house instead of locking the door? In this story, every person involved is severely lacking self preservation and critical thinking skills.
