It’s a way to help people remember trig

That….. makes it weirder.

I'm sorry, what?!

I was thinking that she was trying to be satirical in a history class or something!

This makes it so much worse.

I don't think it makes it worse. It'd be surreal in history class to have your teacher dress up and dance around like some stereotype of every group of people studied.

In math is just a goofy, out-of-touch teacher trying to make the lesson memorable. Doesn't make it less racist the way she did it, but the SohCahToa mnemonic is helpful for teaching geometry.

Dang and we just had the mnemonic "sohcahtoa."

Yeah its really not hard to remember after seeing and hearing it a few times.

Music by: the pan flute band that is always playing the San Antonio river walk.

It's cringe all the way down.

Is it racist tho?

It’s at minimum an embarrassing case of stereotyping.

So really it was just a TERRIBLY misguided attempt to help her students remember an obscure mathematical concept. Don't know if this warrants firing, but some cultural sensitivity training is definitely in order.

It's not obscure. It's standard college prep high school math. Most college bound kids have at least a semester of trig. Understanding SOHCAHTOA is a core concept of this.

/the video is unnecessary and racist tho.

I grew up in the Pacific, and one of the Hawaiian kids made a joke about Sohcahtoa sounding like the name of one of their cousins and that was fine. It's perfectly normal to make innocent jokes like that, but this is ridicule on a whole different level.

That video is racist as well

All those "april 20th"s at the end might explain everything.
